Of course I don’t want them hanging around her house, I made sure they knew that shit without giving anything away. I just had to remind them of what a shit storm this whole thing could’ve been had I not stepped in with the principal. They didn’t want any part of that.
I was only slightly jealous of the new attention they were now giving her, but it couldn’t be helped. I wanted as many people on her side as I could muster if this thing should go south.
And besides, as with everything else with us, I’d outgrown them in this aspect as well. My boys were still only too happy to hit up the cheers or any of the other beauties, who were into having a good time and were just a phone text away.
She hadn’t gotten too far by the time I pulled up behind her and I followed her the rest of the way home. The first thing I did when we walked in was check the security cameras which I’d left taping all day. There was nothing to see there, which I expected since our phones are supposed to alert us if there’s any activity, but I wasn’t taking any chances.
“Um, what smells so good?” She lifted a pot roast from the cooker that she’d left cooking all day again and turned off the little rice cooker next to it. “I just have to steam some vegetables in the microwave and dinner will be ready. You have just enough time to wash up.”
I twirled my eyebrows at her making her giggle and evade my hands as I made a play for her. “No, dinner will get cold. Just wash your hands at the sink, we’ll shower later.”
I wrapped my arms around her leaving my hands clasped together on her ass and looked down at her. “Did you have a good day?” She nodded and that light in her eyes, I could get used to seeing it there more often.
“I went to the station and made another report and I filled out the forms for the order of protection. It might take a few days though they said.”
“That’s fine, I’m going to be staying by your side until it’s taken care of anyway so not to worry.”
I also had plans with Carter and Drew which I wasn’t about to share with her, not now not ever. Drew is the best when it comes to computers and I don’t mean that he types fast. That fucker can do anything with an IP address.
We hadn’t wanted to use the school’s computer just in case there was any blowback, but he should be taking care of something as we speak. And all I had to promise him was an introduction to this girl who refuses to give him the time of day. Whatever happens after is up to him.
“Let’s eat.” She took care of the vegetables while I carved the meat and put it on our plates with some of the steaming hot rice that I couldn’t believe had been cooking for hours. I have no idea how any of this works.
We kept the conversation light over dinner with me keeping a watchful eye on her. I still wasn’t sure that I could trust this easy go lucky attitude of hers, seeing as it was so vastly different from what I’d come to know of her.
But she seemed surprisingly void of any worry whatsoever, something that boggles my mind. I wonder if it has any correlation to the fact that she’d become a wild woman in bed here lately? If that had tripped something in her head? Who knows.
She did show a hint of surprised disappointment when she headed for the shower alone and I didn’t follow. But I needed that time to call Drew and see how far he’d gotten with what I’d asked him to do.
“I was just about to call you bro, this shit was way too easy.”
“You’re in?”
“What do you think? His firewall was a pussy, I had that bitch purring in less than three minutes. That’s got to be a new record don’t you think?”
“I don’t keep up with your criminal activity so I wouldn’t know.” He snort laughed on the other end before going on to tell me what else he’d done to remotely spy on Robert’s computer. Since he’d chosen this fight I’ve decided to take it to him.
A schoolyard beating wasn’t enough in my book for a man who’d terrorized a woman and then tried to destroy her career because she went to the cops. And as far as I’m concerned that could be his only reason for doing what he’d done.
So now, instead of getting my hands dirty and dragging my boys along with me, we’re gonna do him a different way. I have no doubt that someone as sick as him has shit to hide. hopefully whatever we find will be enough to put him away for a long-long time.
