This shit shouldn’t be happening.
Big Dick wasn’t on the ride with him. He was out hunting for clues, trying to locate the fucking ghost of the Twisted Bastards MC.
Brick and Kinky had wanted some food, and with Ava being busy at the bakery training Larissa, there was no way anyone was going to eat the food from Abriana. The last bout of food poisoning took weeks to get over.
Hunter knew the only place he could eat right now was at the diner. Ava wasn’t happy with him, neither was half the club.
Brick stepped out of the diner and handed him a wrapped burger. Several of the brothers were pissed at him, and only a couple treated him like nothing had happened. Brick was one of them.
“Here you go,” Brick said.
“Thanks.” For now, Hunter expected this kind of shit to happen. It was what the club did.
He had broken Big Dick’s trust, and these are the consequences he had to face, and he didn’t fucking like it. In fact, it pissed him off.
From the moment he had looked at Harlow, he had known she was going to be nothing but trouble to him.
“Don’t worry, I didn’t spit in it,” Brick said.
Hunter shook his head. None of the brothers would do that kind of thing. With Abriana’s cooking, they had all learned their lesson about true torture. He knew he wasn’t going to run the risk of doing more damage.
“I’m so fucking hungry,” Brick said.
Hunter agreed, unwrapping his burger, and taking a large bite out of it. He couldn’t help but keep looking over at the beauty parlor.
“You’ve got to stop doing that shit. Big Dick is not going to like it,” Brick said.
“What do we know about that shop?” Hunter asked.
“What the fuck do we need to know about makeup and shit?” Brick wrinkled his nose as if it was something dirty.
“The fact that Big Dick’s sister now works there. Don’t you think we should check it out?”
“I’m not getting involved in anything to do with Big Dick and his sister. You were the one who fucked that up, and now you’re looking for excuses to get on his good side.”
“This is not about getting on his good side,” he said.”
Brick raised a brow as he ate his burger.
“Seriously, I’m not.”
“How are you going to make it up to Big Dick? With the Twisted making their move, it’s only a matter of time.”
“Twisted are not making a move. They’re being fucking cowards with the shit they’re doing, but it’s not making a move.” Hunter finished his burger, even though he had long lost his appetite. “Shit will die down. Harlow will move on, and then none of this shit is going to matter.”
Brick finished his burger and tossed the wrapper into the trash. “First of all, I agree with you. Twisted Bastards are acting fucking cowardly. Second, you’re full of fucking shit if you think this is going to die down. You fucked Big Dick’s sister. You broke up with her. She got run off the road and lost the baby. Your baby. Has that not dawned on you yet?”
Hunter glared at him.
“If Harlow hadn’t been in that accident, then she would have gotten bigger. That baby would have survived. She would have a child with you. You would be a father.”
“Shut the fuck up,” Hunter said.
Brick threw his arms up in the air. “You and Smokey, you’re a lot alike. Do you know that? Fuck me, I am starving. I’m having another burger. Do you want one?”
“No.”
He had lost his appetite.
Brick shrugged and then left him alone.
Hunter looked toward the beauty parlor. He didn’t like this. He found it awfully convenient that the beauty parlor had set up in town, and now Harlow was working there. No one knew anything about the owner. Hunter didn’t like where his suspicions were leading.
Raven stepped out of the bakery, drawing his attention as the doorbell rang it’s musical tune.
“If you keep looking over there, people are going to start thinking you care.”
“Fuck off, Raven.”
Raven laughed, but it was a forced sound.
“What do you know about the beauty parlor?” he asked.
“Harlow works there and from what I’ve seen, she looks happy. Don’t do it, Hunter.”
“You don’t tell me what to do.”
He walked away from Raven just as Harlow and the owner of the beauty parlor stepped out. They were locking the doors. Big Dick wasn’t around. The club would tell if anything happened, but he needed to talk to Harlow. Raven didn’t try to stop him.
He didn’t give a shit what they said or did, he had to talk to Harlow. She needed to be careful. Her association with the club had gotten her attacked. There could be something wrong with this woman she now worked for.
“I’m super excited about tonight. Should I pick you up? Should I meet you there?” the boss asked.
