Harlow didn’t quite know what made the bar amazing, but she grabbed Hailey’s hand and pulled her to the bar.
“What do you want?” Harlow asked.
“Shots.”
Clearly, Hailey hadn’t thought about who was going to drive. Harlow wasn’t in the mood to drink, but it was better than wallowing in self-pity. The barman served them a couple of shots, and down they went.
Hailey came close to spitting hers out, while Harlow didn’t mind the burn. In a weird sense, it did make her feel … alive. No, that wasn’t right. It didn’t make her feel anything. Spending time with Hailey helped her forget everything.
“Another,” Harlow said.
They had another shot lined up and Hailey downed her second and then slapped her palm on the table.
“Wow! I don’t think it’s supposed to do that.”
Harlow laughed, but then a third shot came, and she knew after that one, they would dance. She wasn’t one to handle alcohol or even spirits, so she would have to pace Hailey. The other woman was clearly along for the ride. With the third shot down, Harlow grabbed Hailey’s hand, and together they walked and shimmied onto the dance floor.
Harlow was quite happy to swing her hips. Even at three shots, she was starting to feel the effects of the alcohol. She’d drank even more than she had on her birthday, and she knew how that ended up.
People cleared them a space on the dance floor, and they held hands, just swaying from side to side, the occasional swing of the hip.
Hailey laughed. “Maybe now is a good time to tell you that I can’t dance. I have never been out dancing, and this is certainly a first for me.”
Harlow found that to be the funniest thing. It didn’t stop them from enjoying themselves. Harlow ignored everyone else, closed her eyes, and just let the music take over. It was loud, with a thick heavy beat, and as long as she didn’t think too hard, she was able to forget everything else. That was all she wanted to do. Ignore everything and focus on herself, on the here and now. She could do that.
Harlow didn’t need to think about how lonely she was at night. How in the short time they were together, she had come to love Hunter’s scent as he wrapped his arms around her. Or the feel of his lips brushing across her skin.
None of that mattered right now.
She felt tears prickle her eyes, but she ignored it.
“Fuck me, you’re sexy,” the deep timbre voice had Harlow tensing.
Before she could stop it, an arm was wrapped around her waist, and she was in the arms of a total stranger. A handsome total stranger, but a stranger nonetheless.
“I didn’t give you permission.”
She put her hands on his chest and tried to push him away, but he wasn’t having it.
“You look like a woman who needs some company.”
Harlow glanced behind her and saw that Hailey had someone else dancing with her.
“Don’t worry about her. She’s going to be taken care of.”
She glared at him. “Let me go.”
“Why? Do you really want me to let you go?” he asked.
Harlow didn’t like this. There was dancing and then there was just plain rude and invasive.
“Come on, don’t you want to dance with me? I’m not a bad guy.”
All her alarm bells were ringing. Reaching down, she grabbed his balls in her hand, and she wasn’t nice about it. He gasped.
“I don’t give a flying fuck if you’re a bad guy or not. Get your hands off me and you tell your friend to get his hands off my friend.”
She tightened her hold and Harlow was able to step back. After she did, she shook her head and then grabbed Hailey’s hand, and together they stepped off the dance floor. Harlow didn’t go outside, she went straight to the bar, and used Hailey as a shield.
“What’s going on?” Hailey asked.
“Do me a favor and hide me, that’s all I need you to do.”
“Do you know him?”
“No.” Harlow’s hands shook, and she clicked the call on her cell phone. She had dialed Raven’s number, and she just hoped the other woman answered her call.

Big Dick was pissed off. All the leads he’d followed were fucking dead. It was like someone from the Twisted Bastards MC had employed someone to clean their tracks, which could only mean one thing. They had been watched. They knew what he was capable of. They were doing this on purpose to run rings around him.
Running a hand down his face, he just needed to clear his head. The attacks would keep coming on the club if he couldn’t figure out where they were hiding. He didn’t even know what their next plan was. They had become too complacent and that was fucking everything up.
The Shack was closed. The bakery was being watched twenty-four-seven. They also had eyes on the new beauty parlor.
