“Chains, stop this. You’re talking crazy. There’s still time. Put me down and head out of here. I’ll tell my uncle that I was just pissed at you. I’ll cover so they don’t chase—”
“I’m leaving, but you’re coming with me and when I’m done with you Kayden, you’ll be too damn tired to even look at another man.”
“Chains—”
“And you sure as hell won’t be able to give him what belongs to me,” he growls.
I’ve never had a panic attack, but I’m pretty sure when Chains puts me on the ground, I go into one. My body is shaking from the anger on Chains face—anger that he somehow managed to hide before. His hand thrusts down into my pants pocket. He takes out my car keys and I watch as he hits the button to unlock my doors. Next, he takes my phone which I somehow, miraculously, manage to still have in my hands and he tosses it on the concrete. My eyes go to my precious cellphone with a now completely shattered screen. When I tear my eyes away to look back at Chains, he’s smiling. He’s smiling and he’s still angry.
That’s when I one hundred percent, unequivocally, know that I’m in trouble.
Oh shit.

Chains
“You need to stop this craziness,” Kayden says for maybe the hundredth time. You would think the fact that I’ve been ignoring her would clue her in. I’ll say this for my girl, she’s persistent if nothing else. “Will you talk to me?!?!” she huffs, when I fail to respond.
“Don’t have much to say,” I tell her and that’s the damned truth. Right now I’m concentrating on putting as much asphalt down between us and her dad’s club as I can. It’s taking me a ridiculous amount of time, because I’m taking only backroads and sometimes I end up going in circles. It would be much quicker to just drive directly there, but I’m not leaving them an easy trail. I’m not stupid, I know eventually they’re going to catch up to me, but I’m hoping I can gain enough time between then and now.
I want more of Kayden, and I’m going to get it. Hopefully, by the time we’ve had our fun together she can soothe Daddy’s feelings and I’ll be long gone. It’s a shit plan, but it’s all I have. I can’t make myself walk away from her. She’s like a fire in my blood. That means taking Kayden and playing it this way will most likely drag both of us down.
I’ve even resigned myself to the knowledge that I most likely won’t survive this shit. That’s a pretty fucked up way for me to go—taken out because I’m tangled up over a woman. I guess if a man has to go, there’s worse ways of dying than between the legs of one as sweet as Kayden.
And, I am going to get between her legs.
There’s no stopping that.
“You’re going to get yourself killed, Chains.”
“Probably,” I admit, seeing no reason to lie about it.
“You’re insane. That’s the only possible explanation. How did I not see that sooner?”
“You’re cute as hell when you’re upset, Baby Girl, but it’s going to be a long ass trip if you insist on keeping this shit up the whole time.”
“This…shit?”
“That’s what I said.”
“Do you have any idea what you’ve done?”
I glance at her, giving her an are-you-fucking-serious look, because I think it’s pretty clear what I’ve done.
“This isn’t a game, Chains. I don’t know what’s wrong in your head, what makes you think that you can get away with this, but my dad will kill you.”
“He can try.”
“He won’t just try, you idiot,” she snaps. “He will! You have to stop this. Pull over at the next gas station and I can call Thomas to come and get me. I’ll tell them I was joking that I have no idea where you are. I’ll cover for you.”
“Nice try, Baby, but you’re not escaping your punishment.”
“My punishment!?!?!” she shrieks. “I’m trying to save your life, you dumbass.”
“Careful, Kayden. It almost sounds like you care.”
“I do! I don’t want my dad to kill you, Chains. You have to stop this before it’s too late.”
“It already is. I left Betty back at your apartment. They’re not going to buy the idea that you don’t know where I’m at. So, why not just sit back and enjoy the ride at this point?”
“Betty? You left one of your club whores at my apartment?”
I frown, and then laugh because I can’t stop myself.
“I don’t see anything about this funny, Chains.”
“You wouldn’t, you’re too busy being a pain in my ass.”
“Fine, let Dad kill you. Maybe one of your whores can cut off your dick and bronze it to remember you by.”
Jesus, she comes up with some of the craziest shit.
“It’s good you think my dick is so impressive it should be bronzed after I die.”
