“I guess that’s it, then. Get out.” I turn to follow Mel when her voice stops me.

“He did it. I only pretended I didn’t remember to protect you. But you need to know the truth. He raped me, and then laughed when I told him I was going to tell you, that you would always believe him because you trusted him. Well, he will rot in prison.”

I swallow as I turn back to face her, and really look at her. “I know you stole from me.”

She opens her mouth, then shuts it as I take a step closer.

“Had you asked me for money, I would have gladly given it to you because I loved you more than my own mother. I thought you had my back, but instead, you’re just insane.” I look her straight in the eyes. “Ammo’s right, you are batshit crazy, now get the fuck out. And just so you know, I wasn’t going to file charges, but…fuck you, Rachel, you need to rot in prison, as you say.”

“I’ll kill you.” She lunges, but Ace easily grabs her as she turns and screams, trying to scratch and bite him, just as sounds of sirens and flashing lights fill the room.

“The fuck, Courtney?” Melanie screams as her own security runs in the room to help, her hand reaching out to mine as we watch as police burst in.

“LAPD, let her go, sir.”

“Thank God. I want to press—”

“Rachel Stewart, you’re under arrest.” A police officer spins her around and handcuffs her as she starts to scream and kicks at the air, her one high-heeled stiletto flying into the wall.

“Jesus.” I stare in horror at her.

“Ms. Falcon?” I jump as I look over at a female officer.

“Yes?” I clear my voice, but with Rachel cursing and screaming along with the police officer reading her her rights, I can barely hear myself think.

“Are you okay?” the officer repeats herself as I nod my head yes, my eyes following Rachel as I move toward the door.

Then everything is silent.

The lights, sirens, yelling, all of it as I try and breathe in and out as my eyes stare straight at him.

“I need to go,” I whisper, watching him, the way he stands, looking like a Greek god, straight out of a book of mythology as he talks to a couple police officers.

“I’m sorry, we can’t let you out just yet.” A hand reaches out to block me, right as his eyes find mine.

It’s as if I’m in a tunnel, all I see is him. I can’t breathe, move, I don’t even blink.

I’ll do anything, just don’t leave me.

“Ms. Falcon?”

Don’t look away. But he does, he turns, and nods at something the officer says. My pulse is pounding so hard, I’m sure he can hear it. I close my eyes and silently beg, pray, at this point because I’d gladly sell my soul to the devil just to get one more look.

“Ms. Falcon, are you okay?” I blink as the world, noises, paparazzi hit me with full force.

“What?”

“I need you to step back, please.” The officer shuts the door.

“Wait. I need to go out there, t—”

“I’m sorry, Ms. Falcon, we need to secure the property before we let anyone out. Are you wanting to press charges against Rachel Stewart?” I blink at the cop as she moves and nods at an officer who walks by.

“Courtney? Holy shit. Gina is in that police car.” Melanie stands on her tip toes looking out the window.

“Let’s all move into the kitchen. Away from the windows, please.” A male officer holds out his hand as we both stare at him.

“What is happening?” I turn to look for Ace, but he’s in the corner in deep conversation with another officer.

“This is ridiculous, I need to talk to Ammo.” I turn to go around the female cop, only to have her stop me.

“Step away from the door.” Her voice all of a sudden is threatening.

“Courtney?” Ace moves toward me, a huge frown on his face.

“Ammo is out there, and they won’t let me out.” I point at the officer.

“Ammo’s already gone. You need to give the police your statement.” His deep voice is not playing around as I swallow and take a deep breath, trying to think.

“Ms. Falcon, are you alright?”

Jesus, why won’t this cop shut up? I just need some space, a second to breathe, because he’s gone.

Gone.

I take another breath and turn and look at her.

“Sorry, I’m a little shaken up.” I straighten my shoulders because I know what I need to do.

“Yes, I want to press charges against Rachel Stewart.”

COURTNEY

“On in five with Jimmy, Ms. Falcon.” A frazzled-looking PA says as he waits outside the green room door for me.

“Okay, thank you,” I tell him and blow out some air as Julie pats my face again with powder.
