Ace shakes his head. “Dix, you do it. Let me know if you spot anything suspicious.”

Dix gives a curt nod. “Anything specific I should look for?”

“Anything that looks like it shouldn’t be happening. The guns come in tonight, and we need to get them on the road ASAP now that Hector is out.”

“You got a place in mind?”

“Yeah. We’re trucking them over to the port of LA. They’re going to Costa Rica. Some militant group. I’ve got a boat waiting.”

“Last time we were there, it was a small shipment of Ruger pistols and those tiny fucking useless handbags,” Dix says more to himself than to the rest of us. “Cyprus Brotherhood, right?”

Ace and Coop both grin, but it’s Coop who speaks. “Goddamn, it’s good to have your ass back in the fray, Dix.”

“Yeah?” Dix looks around the table with a wide-eyed innocent expression no one believes for a second.

“You know it, brother.” Ace’s words are sincere, but the smirk on his face says he knows Dix is up to something.

“Does that mean I can be security for Juniper’s joint?” Dix laughs and points at me. “You’re letting Preach babysit his girlfriend.”

“Not my girlfriend. She’s a woman I just met.” Beautiful and curvy and mouthy, just how I like ‘em.

“If Dix needs to get his dick wet, Ace, we should let him watch over Juniper’s place. The rest of us don’t need any help getting laid.” Wilder snickers at his joke, even while he’s still typing.

“Zeke Sandoval,” he says out of the blue. “He’s the head of Cyprus Brotherhood, at least according to national police records. No number, though. Looks like he only does burners, but I got you an address.”

Ace nods. “Dix, you’re going on a cruise. Take Coop and Devon with you.”

Coop freezes. “Kelsey is due any day, and I don’t want to be gone right now,” he says with regret.

“Right,” Ace nods and looks at Shades.

“Letty can watch Kelsey.”

Coop groans. “Are you seriously going to ask me to miss the birth of my child?”

Coop still doesn’t look happy about the idea, and Ace groans. “Naw, man. I can’t do that. Dix, take Joaquin with you so Coop can keep an eye on his woman.”

“Thanks, man.” Coop claps Shades on the back and turns to Ace and Dix. “You should leave straight from the port to the ship before Hector’s crew knows what the fuck is happening.”

“Then you all should get some rest because it’s gonna be a long few days.” Ace stands and pushes away from the table.

Coop stands with a smile and turns toward Dix. “Who wants to take bets on how many women will show up in nine months claiming Dix is their baby daddy?”

“I’ll take that bet,” Joaquin says with a grin.

“Me too,” Wilder adds and pulls cash from his pocket.

“Fuck you, guys,” Dix growls and shakes his head, but his smile is nothing but affectionate.

The guys go back and forth, taking bets on Dix’s future fatherhood, and I grin until Ace calls my name. “Don’t you have a pretty hacker to protect?”

“Yeah, I guess I do.” I stand and head out with the rest of them. Back to the sexy and irresistible hacker’s house to resist the temptation she presents.

Those big honey-brown eyes and her tough girl act just make me want her more. And the fact that she won’t take my help easily?

Well, that makes her all the more irresistible.

God, help me.

Chapter Seven

Gia

I’m on the computer doing the one thing I promised myself I wouldn’t do again. Job hunting online. Yes, that’s right. I’m looking for a real job.

Mom is at work after a stern warning that I need to find a job or find a new place to live. So I set the scene when she came home to make it look like I’m job hunting, and then I actually find myself looking for work.

My phone buzzes, and it’s the perfect distraction. “Ro, what’s up, girl?”

Ro sighs, and I can almost see her rolling her eyes in exasperation.

“Just came from my interview at the Titslinger, and it was shit. The guy stared at my tits the whole time, and when I refused to go in the back with him, told me I didn’t have big enough tits to sling drinks at his bar. Can you believe that shit?”

“I’m sorry, honey. Maybe you should try for higher-end places and use your fancy stuck-up voice. Those rich pricks tip well, and your tits are pretty divine.”

Ro laughs. “Thanks for that, I think.”

“Seriously. I mean, if you’re gonna use your tits to make money, then you better make good money doing it. I’m checking out jobs now, and a few places are looking for servers.”

“Wait a minute,” Ro shouts. “You’re looking for jobs online? Like real, straight jobs?”

I nod even though she can’t see me. “Yeah, Mom bitched at me last night about being lazy and drinking too much. And I have to start contributing to the household. So I got on my laptop first thing to shut her up. It worked. I hope.”
