I gasped a little at the sight of his bare chest.

Awestruck at his masculine beauty.

I’d only seen it through the haze of the video that night. I wasn’t prepared for the full impact of him.

Lust radiated from his ink-covered flesh, the designs rippling with the packed muscle that vibrated in power.

I couldn’t do anything but kiss over the broken clock held frozen in time over the thunder that raged in his chest.

Wanting to hold whatever it meant.

A shiver went sailing through him. Hand tightening in my hair, he tugged my head back, forcing me to look at him. “Are you sure you want this?”

“I want you, Caleb. I want you more than I’ve ever wanted anything.”

There was my heart, trying to climb out of my chest and into his hands. But it was already there. Beating fast and alive and fully for the first time.

And I wasn’t afraid.

“Reckless Angel. I don’t deserve you. I’m nothing but a thief sneaking into your room to steal the treasure that you are.”

“Everyone deserves to be loved, Caleb.”

His head shook, pain emblazoned in his eyes, unable to accept it.

But just because he didn’t believe it didn’t make it true, and I knew the only thing I could do was show him.

Show him what he meant.

“It’s not stealing when it’s offered to you.”

In a flash, his mouth was back on mine. He dragged down the zipper of my dress, and his palms smoothed over the caps of my shoulders, pushing the fabric down.

I eased back so he could tug it over my hips and down my legs.

Cool air hit my bare flesh.

I was only wearing underwear, and my chest heaved, matching time with his.

For a moment, the two of us were held in this gravity.

Spirits spinning around the other.

Desperate to mesh.

He tugged each of my heels off, dropped them to the floor with a thunk, then reached out and peeled my underwear down my legs.

He stepped back and toed out of his shoes, unfastened his pants and shoved them off.

A fire lit, so bright, so hot, I thought I might pass out.

He climbed over me.

So powerful.

So intent.

His cock heavy and hard where it bounced between us, pressing at my belly that trembled in want.

Shockwaves of desire pounded through the air.

A roar of that recklessness he kept accusing me of.

I took him by both sides of the neck, emphatic words pitching from my mouth. “All of it, Caleb. I’m offering all of it to you.”

“I should refuse it, but I don’t know how,” he rasped at my mouth before he dove in for another kiss.

All the things he didn’t know how to say or even believe were true gushed out with it, pouring into me.

“I need you,” I mumbled through the kiss, my fingers raking down the hardened planes of his back.

“I want to possess you, Paisley. Fuck you. Mark you. Ruin you,” he warned as he let his mouth travel along the length of my jaw.

“I’m already ruined for you, Caleb. Take my body, too.”

Need rumbled in his throat, and he kissed a path down the column of my neck, his mouth opening as a rough pant escaped.

Fighting to keep the control I could feel fraying inside him.

“Don’t be gentle with me.”

“I don’t ever want to hurt you,” he murmured.

I dragged my fingernails up his back. “You won’t.”

I prayed I was right. That I could find him in the middle of his storm, meet him there, and that one day, we would walk out of it together. He edged back off the bed. He stared down at me, a conflict of emotions flashing through his being.

Lust and want and fear and regret.

Those eyes caressed over me.

The man looked at me like I might be a priceless painting hanging on his wall.

A treasure.

Something to be adored.

But it was the sight of him bare and hungry for me that sent chills crashing across my flesh.

A naked, fallen angel where he stood at the edge of the bed.

Darkness dripped from his aura, and all that intimidation glowed beneath his skin. He thought I was the angel. But didn’t he know he was the savior Evelyn had needed? One I had needed, too? Because after Jeremy, I wasn’t sure I’d ever fully give myself to a man again. That I’d ever really let myself go.

Let myself fall or trust or love.

“Look at you, spread out for me. Most gorgeous woman I’ve ever seen, Paisley Dae. Dripping sex and sweetness and spinning my world into chaos.”

It came out coarse, scraping the air with the lust that addled the atmosphere.

My hips jerked off the bed, begging for him.

He reached out and dragged his fingertips between my trembling thighs.

His jaw clenched in that way that I now recognized was barely-hinged restraint.

“You’re soaked, sweet girl. Soaked for me. What I’m going to do to you.”
