He leaned back against the seat of the car. “What would you like to know?”

All right, that was unexpected. She swallowed heavily. What did she want to know? Everything? Too much?

She couldn’t decide where to start.

“I . . . I don’t know yet. But I’m sure I’ll think of something.”

“When you do, then you can ask me. But right now, I want to know what he said.”

She huffed out a breath. “This is setting a bad precedent.”

“Faith.”

Shoot. The fact that he used her first name told her that he wasn’t messing around.

“Do you really want full disclosure on everything? What about when I have a tummy ache? Or when I need to use the bathroom? Or . . . or . . . when I have an itchy foot?”

“Yes.”

That was all he said. Just ‘yes’.

“Fine,” she groaned. “After you got up, he leaned over and said that I’d put on a good show, and it was too bad that I didn’t get to come.”

Faith hunched her shoulders, feeling that same feeling of shame creep through her.

“Fucking bastard.”

“Reuben,” she said. “Just let it go. We shouldn’t have been doing that in public. It was wrong.”

He studied her for a long moment. “He made you feel ashamed, didn’t he? You liked what we were doing. And he made you feel . . . wrong? Dirty? Tell me when I’m close.”

“You’re close,” she whispered. “I’m a good girl.”

“Of course you are,” he said firmly. “You’re my good girl. Daddy’s good girl.”

“A good girl wouldn’t have done that,” she told him, unable to meet his gaze. “A good girl wouldn’t have wanted . . . have wanted . . .”

“More?” he queried. “Did you want to come, Faith? Did you want to come over my fingers? Tell me.”

“Yes!” she cried out. “I wanted that, but I shouldn’t have. Good girls don’t do that sort of thing. It’s wrong. What if someone else had seen? Someone we knew? I . . . I . . . I shouldn’t have done it.”

“Fuck. Baby.” He undid his belt and slid closer to her. Cupping her chin, he tilted her head back.

“You need to put your belt back on,” she told him fiercely.

“In a moment. First, I need you to listen to something.”

“Yes?” she asked.

“You’re a good girl, Faith Blossom.”

Tears filled her eyes. “I’m not anymore.”

“Yes, you are. You’re my good girl. Do you know what that means?”

“I’m guessing it means you think I’ll do whatever you tell me to do.”

“You will.” He grinned down at her. God, he was sexy when he smiled. “But whether you do or not, you’re still a good girl. You’ll always be my good girl. Tonight, it felt good while we were doing it, didn’t it?”

“Well, yeah, but it was still wrong. If we all went around doing things just because they felt good . . . it could be anarchy.”

“Were we hurting anyone?”

“N-no. I don’t know. Someone might have taken offense. And it wasn’t exactly legal, right?”

“Perhaps. But this asshole didn’t take offense, did he?”

“No . . . he seemed quite happy.” She shuddered.

“I’m sorry he made you feel ashamed of what we did. But you were only doing as I said, you were pleasing me. So, how can you be a bad girl if you were doing what I told you?”

“You’re not always right, you know,” she grumbled at him.

His eyes went wide. “I’m not? That’s news to me.”

To her surprise, Faith found herself smiling. There was still a knot in her stomach, but it was easing.

“We don’t have to do anything like that in public again,” Reuben told her. “I don’t want you to feel like anything we do is ever wrong. All right?”

Okay, she hadn’t been expecting him to say that. It didn’t feel like a Reuben thing to say.

“All right.”

To be honest, she was slightly disappointed at the idea of never doing that again.

“It was fucking hot, though,” he added in a rough-sounding voice.

Yeah. It was.

“Agreed.”

He ran his hand down her thigh, then back under her dress.

Her breath caught in her throat. “Please leave him alone, Reuben.”

“I can’t do that.” Reuben pressed his lips against her jaw, kissing along it until he reached her lips. His hand cupped her mound and she moaned.

“That’s it. Give me all the sounds,” he told her. “I can’t let him get away with saying that to you because he upset you. He caused you to run from me. Not that you’ll do that again, will you?”

She whimpered.

“Well, you won’t after your punishment. I can promise you that.”

A shiver ran through her. She tried to tell herself it was one of trepidation, but it felt more like desire. Need.

Surely, she didn’t want to be punished.

Right?

God, she didn’t know. He had her head all twisted up. She didn’t know which way was up and which way was down.
