They were a good pair of lawyers and she was lucky they were with her on this. Pushing through the door, she slowed when her phone rang. She dug it out and answered without looking at the screen.
“Lieutenant Kirk.”
“Come to my office at the range. If it takes this being an order to get you here, consider it that, Lieutenant Kirk.” He was gone as fast as he’d been there.
Her legs trembled and she took a deep breath before glancing in the direction she longed to go and the one she’d been ordered to go.
Are they really that different?
* * *
Davin paced in his office. He wanted to be outside, watching for her to walk up. Be there to witness the way the sun glowed off her skin and hair. While it was his desire, he didn’t, not completely sure that he’d be able to keep his hands off her, to hell with them being in public or on base.
There came a brief knock at his door, and he readjusted himself and checked the window, sure no one was there spying on him. The shades were down, not fully shut but not wide open either, light could come in but you would be hard pressed to see what was going on if you were determined to stand out there and stare.
“Come.” He remained standing, just no longer pacing but behind his desk as the door swung in, allowing him to see the woman who’d taken up all of his thoughts and spare time.
Lieutenant Neha Kirk.
She wore her cami’s, hair confined in a tight bun at the nape of her neck. Every inch of her screamed professional and yet, all he could see was her sprawled out on her bed, skin flushed and sweaty as he loomed over her, cock deep between her thighs. Lips swollen from his kisses. Raw need on her face and her hair fanned out around her.
“You ordered me here, sir?”
God, that acidic tongue of hers made him hard as fuck. The defiance dripped and yet she was perfectly professional. If he’d not known her better, he would not think she was pissed about this.
I definitely know better.
“Close the door.”
Shit. That sounded horrible and like he was setting her up for something bur right now all that mattered was she was here, with him.
She did, the click barely audible. Her chin was up, her eyes flashed defiant fire.
“Yes sir.”
His cock twitched. Not that it took a lot to happen while around this woman. Instead of going to her as he wanted, he crossed his arms and stared at her. She didn’t flinch, nor did she lower her gaze. Yet it was vacant, and he knew she’d checked out. Nothing he said or did would be relevant. Right now, she was viewing him as nothing more than a superior officer who had demanded to see her.
“Talk to me.” His voice was low, graveled.
“About what sir? I am not aware of what you wished to speak to me in regards to.”
She wasn’t going to give in, no fucking way, not his woman. She didn’t have it in her. Davin approved but decided to try a different tactic.
“I missed you.”
Something flexed in her expression.
He pressed. “I’ve been thinking about you.”
“Yellow light Commander.”
That shut him up. He went ramrod straight at those three words. Was she seriously thinking that? With him? After he’d been buried so far in her pussy, he knew she felt him when he finally pulled out.
Is that what’s happened because I asked the question?
Her brown gaze held his devoid of any and all emotion.
He had to regroup. I’m not fucking losing her. Lowering his arms, he held that stare. She would have to be the one to look away first because he’d be damned before he did.
If she was uncomfortable, it never showed. However, she did eventually shift her weight and he realized she was still standing at attention.
“At ease.”
She did with reluctance.
Tipping his head to the chair, he shifted back to his chair, cocked an eyebrow and waited for her to sit. Only then did he take his seat.
“Talk to me.”
“We have nothing to discuss. Is there something I can do for you that is pertaining to something on this base?”
“Yes.”
Her plucked brow rose.
“Fuck,” he swore, pushing a hand through his hair. “What are you trying to prove, Neha? That you can be all business? I know you can. Just like I know you’re fucking pissed at me for asking what I did.” He slammed his hands on the desk, hating even more how she never even flinched, just watched him. “I’m trying, Neha. I’m trying.”
She just watched him, and he swore it was like watching someone build a wall. A few bricks, some mortar, rinse, reuse, repeat. And it was killing him. Every goddamn second.
“Are you expecting some kind of apology from me, Commander? That I have done something to you that warrants me saying sorry? Fine. I’m sorry for whatever slight you feel I’ve done.” She rose. “Is that all? I have things to do and places to be.”
