She cracked open the water and downed about half of it as she made her way over to the leather sectional that faced a huge flat screen TV and of course, under it was a cabinet full of video gaming equipment.

Why wasn’t she surprised he was a video game fanatic?

“Want the music louder?” he called out from the kitchen.

With a sigh, she settled on the couch, tucking her legs under her. “No, it’s fine. Honestly, the DJ is so bad and the music so damn loud at work, I’m grateful for the low volume. I swear I go home with my ears ringing every night.”

“Yeah, Saint sucks as a manager.”

“That’s putting it mildly,” she murmured. Especially since he was only “hiring” prospects for all the vital jobs, as well as half-assed performers who only danced because they had to, not because they wanted to.

“What?” she heard right behind her.

“Nothing.” She patted the couch cushion next to her but he ended up planting himself at the other end of the couch and patting his lap instead.

“Give me those little piggies,” he insisted.

“What?” Was he going to…?

He intertwined his fingers together and pushed his palms away from him, stretching his fingers and cracking his knuckles. He then shook his hands to loosen them up.

“Are you going to—”

He reached under her to where her ankles were tucked, snagged them and yanked her feet up in the air before dropping them on his lap. When he did that, she was pulled off balance and ended up lying face up on the couch. But before she could get more comfortable, he tossed a throw pillow at her. “Use that and feel free to close your eyes.”

She tucked the small square pillow under her head. “Rez, you don’t have to—”

“No shit. But I want to. I can’t imagine having to walk in those damn shoes, forget dancing in them.”

“You get used to it. I just didn’t have a chance today to drink water as much as I usually do.”

“Those shoes are still not good for your feet.”

He wasn’t telling her something she didn’t know. When she went into the back, she always removed them and threw on flip-flops to give her feet a break. She used to go barefoot until recently when the carpet stopped being cleaned once the cleaning company quit.

Most likely because they weren’t getting paid. Sapphire had no doubt Taint was pocketing that money.

Greedy asshole.

Rez began stretching her toes, and massaging the muscles and joints in her poor, abused feet.

It. Was. Fucking. Heaven.

Holy shit. “What is this magic?” And how the hell was he so good at it?

“What is it? Me proving what a gentleman I am, of course.” He added on a cocky smile.

She snorted softly. “Uh huh.”

He wrapped both of his broad hands around one foot and began to work it in earnest with both the pads of his fingers and his knuckles. He squeezed and massaged, and dug in deep to reach those sore spots.

Total freaking bliss. “Were you a masseuse before you were a cop?”

She shouldn’t be surprised when his deep chuckle shot sparks through her, but she was. The level of attraction she had toward the man was off the damn charts. The whole reason she was lying on his couch with her feet in his lap.

“No, but us men learn the old offer-a-woman-a-massage-to-get-down-her-pants trick early on.”

“Seems like you had a lot of practice at that,” she teased.

He shrugged. “Catering to women in a way that’s welcomed and enjoyable is one way to get an advantage over the rest of the male vultures circling.”

“Welcomed being the key word. Too many men don’t know how to take no for an answer.”

He mmm’d.

As a cop she was damn sure he dealt with plenty of crimes involving harassment and assault due to men not knowing how to handle a woman rejecting them. Working with women for years, she’d seen or heard of plenty of those instances herself. She’d even dealt with a few men who didn’t understand boundaries.

But tonight, she was here by choice. She welcomed Rez’s company and his touch.

Her head dropped back to the throw pillow, her eyelids slid shut and another moan slipped from her lips as he alternated working on both feet.

Who knew a way to a woman’s heart was through her feet?

“Does this count as foreplay? I say it does because… damn,” she breathed. “This is heaven.”

“No one ever rubbed your feet before?”

“That’s usually not the area on my body they want to rub.”

A laugh burst from between his lips, pulling a smile from her. “I’m not surprised.”

When he began to lift one of her feet higher, her eyes popped open.

Keeping their gazes locked, he shot her a grin and started pulling her foot toward his mouth.

“You put my toes in your mouth and I’m out of here.” A shudder rushed through her at the thought of him sucking on her toes.
