“What’s up babe?”

“Nothing. Just thinking.”

“What about?”

“How much things have changed over the last two weeks.” I can’t argue with her there.

“I hope they have been good changes?” It would kill me if she regretted what is happening between us.

“Yes. I mean I think so. I don’t know.” I grip her hand and give it a squeeze. I need to reassure her, but we are pulling up to the house of Ken Gilroy. I park the car and open her door.

“Are you nervous, baby?”

“No. By now I expect the answer to be no. I just want to get it over with.”

“Alright then, let’s go.” We walk up to this eccentric house with birdhouses and pixie chimes all over the porch. The ground is splattered with what looks like paint.

“Uh, is this weird or what?” I nod, holding her close to me in case we are in the middle of a horror movie. I ring the bell, and then we both step back. We wait a beat, and as we turn to walk to the car, the door opens, and an older woman opens it.

“Hello. Can I help you?” She asks, wiping her hands on her apron. She looks sweet and like anyone's grandmother.

“Yes, I’m sorry to bother you. We are looking for Mr. Gilroy.”

“Ah my dears, I am afraid that is impossible.”

“Oh, why is that? Is he not here?” She sighs, pulls out a napkin, and wipes her face.

“My Kenny died last year. Brain aneurysm took my son from me too soon.”

“I am so sorry for your loss, ma’am.”

“Thank you. What did you need him for?”

“Oh nothing. Just some unfinished business. Nothing for you to worry about. Well, I am sorry to have bothered you.”

Once we are back in the car I pull her into my arms and kiss the side of her head. “How are you feeling, love?” She snuggles into me as much as she can, considering a console separates us.

“I’m alright. Do you know what is more frustrating?” she asks, sitting up. “That we have a name on the list that we all keep ignoring. I mean I get it what are the odds right? But just what if it is him, then we just never know?”

“Well, what do your sisters say?”

“They just act like it isn’t there.” She shakes her head, sighing and defeated. At least right now.

"Alright, so what do you want to do about it?” She sighs and lays her head on my shoulder. Right now, my brain is fried. All I want to do is lay down and relax.” Huh. The lay down part I can fix. I don’t know how much rest she is going to be getting. I am done waiting. Looking at how exhausted she is, I groan because I know I am going to have to let her sleep.

I pick her up out of the car and carry her inside, up the elevator, and to the room. Gently, I lay her on the bed, taking off her clothes, salivating at her curves. She groans and rolls over, looking at me with sleepy and hooded eyes.

“What are you doing?” she asks, her voice low and seductive.

“I am taking off my baby’s clothes so I can lick her to sleep.” I really need to work, and I cannot do that when she is awake.

“I was already asleep,” she says cheekily. Giggling, she lies down in the center of the bed we’ve been sharing and spreads her legs for me. It would be easy for me to slide into her, but she’s not ready. Instead, I eat her pussy until she comes on my face. Ignoring my cock, I let her sleep while I get to work.

APRIL

ONE WEEK LATER

We are in an adorable little town in West Virginia called Hollow’s Hollow. The one and only hotel is above the bar so that’s where we are staying. I have no idea how, but I’ve found myself sitting at a table surrounded by a bunch women in various stages of pregnancy, drinking soda from fancy glasses. I don’t know how it happened. I really don’t. I was sitting alone at the bar while Ken was outside on the phone and the next thing I know they’d taken me under they’re wings. The only name I remember right now is Rachel. She’s the mayor’s wife, but honestly these ladies are a riot. I haven’t laughed so much in a long time.

“So what brings you to Hollow’s Hollow?” one of them asks. “I’m Miriam, by the way.”

“I’m looking for biological father.”

“Do you know who it is?”

“Not exactly.”

“Are you checking everyone in town?” another asks.

“Uh, no. I have a specific person I can ask.”

“Oh, who, if you don’t mind me asking.” I don’t because in a town this size they can probably tell me where to find him.

“Not at all. His name is Drake Ransom,” I say, and the table goes quiet. “What?” Is he in jail or something?
