I came hard enough to lose my senses for the briefest of moments. I think the people the next town over heard my roar. I came back to reality to realize that I was hurting her with the tight grip I had on her hair.

I pulled her up my chest and sealed our lips together. I didn’t care that my taste was still in her mouth. I needed to have some part of me inside of her. It was no longer enough just to feel her I needed to be inside her warmth one way or another.

It was going to be hell holding off from taking her the next few months, but I must. I want her to have a wedding fit for a princess and I know those things take forever to plan. Looks like I’d set myself a hard course.

“Get dressed, I’ll take you home.” My voice came out gruffer than I’d intended but it was from the strain of keeping myself in check. From the look she gave me, I knew she had misinterpreted me once again.

I nabbed her when she tried flouncing off the bed and put her beneath me. “If you stay I’ll fuck you, I don’t want that until after you’re my wife.” I shoulda kept my mouth shut. That look of hurt left her eyes and instead my minx was now staring up at me with mischief in her eyes.

She wrapped her arms around my neck and grinned up at me before pulling my head down to hers. I couldn’t resist even though I needed to for her sake. I let her tease me into a kiss that went on forever until we both came up for air.

“Baby, help me out here. Your parents know where you are. How happy is your dad going to be if I keep you in my bed all night?” I thought that was as good an argument as any, I was wrong.

“We’re engaged, he’ll be fine.” She nuzzled my chin and slid her soft cheek against mine while rubbing one of her legs up and down my thigh, opening herself to me. I fought the urge to top her and won.

Pulling way I reached down to grab her dress and threw it to her before pulling on my own clothes. She pouted but left the bed to get dressed. I brushed her hair with my lips before taking her hand and leading her from the room.

She laid her head on my shoulder as we walked side by side out into the night. I kissed her hair and brushed her cheek with my hand. I like her like this, all soft like a little kitten, not giving me shit.

“I’m staying home tomorrow.”

“No you’re not. You already missed today.”

“But….”

“No buts, you like it there, and until you think of what you want to do when you become Mrs. Sullivan, you should go.”

I had my own selfish reasons for insisting that she go. I wanted her out of the way just in case something went haywire. I didn’t want her seeing anymore of my mother’s negativity against her. I wasn’t sure what was going to happen tomorrow when it came time for her to leave, and I wanted Lucia out of the line of fire.

She might put up a good front, but I know no one likes to feel that kind of resentment aimed at them. Especially not when she’s supposed to be enjoying one of the happiest times of her life; planning her one and only wedding.

She argued to no avail as I walked her home in the moonlight. “Lucia I said no.” She whined and called me a bully, not the first time. I called her a brat and we argued back and forth, just like old times.

I was happy to see that nothing had changed now that she was going to be my wife. I should’ve known it wouldn’t, that she would always be my Lucia. Irreverent little pain in the ass.

When we reached her door, I took her in my arms for one last kiss goodnight. It was all I could do not to turn and take her back to the house with me. I’m sure I have enough control to sleep next to her without taking her.

Better not risk it. She seems to be the only one who can destroy that control I’ve always been so proud of. What a thing for a grown man, a man who’d fought in two wars to be led around by the nose by a slip of a girl.

“I love you. Sleep tight. I expect you for breakfast in the morning before I take you to class.” That pleased her enough to let me go even though it was hard on both of us. I stole one last kiss before pushing her through the door and forcing myself to walk away.
