He forced me through a second orgasm, but didn't come along with me, instead slipping out of me, moving to sit down, then reaching for me, pulling me onto his lap, slipping back inside, but not moving, not trying to force me to move, just sitting there, hands running up and down my back as I fought through the haze of satiety.

Only when I came back into myself did I realize he was still deep inside me, still hard, waiting.

My head lifted from his shoulder, my gaze finding his, still as heavy-lidded as it had been when he'd been ripping off my panties.

"No," he said, grabbing my hips when I started to move.

No one could ever accuse me of not giving as good as I got. It was his turn to get to relax and come.

"No?" I repeated, brows knitting.

"Slow," he clarified, fingers gliding up my ribcage, tracing under the swell of my breast, gaze focused on my nipple as it twisted into a tightened bud without even being touched.

Inside me, his cock twitched in response, making my walls clench tightly around him.

Slow.

Slow was still relatively new, something I almost felt inexperienced with, which was strange sexually, an area where I felt most comfortable.

"Slow," he repeated when I froze, "not unmoving," he added, making a choked laugh bubble up and out.

My hands went to his shoulders as my hips started moving, my gaze unable to meet his, feeling awkward, unsure.

"Auggie," West's voice called, low, coaxing, making it impossible not to look at him. "There you are," he said, giving me a sweet smile as his hands moved to cover my breasts.

Somehow, with his eyes on me, looking into me, the uncharacteristic insecurity slipped away.

My arms folded behind his neck as I leaned forward, my lips claiming his. Slow, unhurried.

We'd kissed dozens of times.

Yet this somehow felt like the first.

Something more, something deeper, something I didn't understand, but wanted more of.

I don't know how long we stayed exactly like that, but West's arm eventually went up my back, between my shoulder blades, easing me backward, holding me up as I continued to move against him.

His other hand moved between us, working my clit, driving me up, up, up.

Then, finally, over.

And I crashed down into the orgasm, crying out his name, hearing him hiss out mine.

West pulled me back upward, and I collapsed into his chest, burying my face in his neck, taking a deep breath, breathing him in, and realizing just how good and fucked I was.

Because I was pretty damn sure that I was falling for West.

And not even in a little way.

Nope.

Big.

Huge.

And that was dangerous.

Knock you on your ass and rip your heart out kind of dangerous.

While I was starting to know West well enough to know that he wouldn't hurt me deliberately, I understood my own feelings well enough to know that, regardless of his intentions, it was going to happen.

I couldn't claim I was prepared for that either.

I didn't do strong emotions. Or, maybe it was more accurate to say that I didn't do strong emotions with people I thought of as shallow connections. So, basically every man I ever met save for my brother's crew.

I didn't even know how I would respond to something like heartbreak. Even just a small fracture.

Would I fall into pints of ice cream? Hit the town to try to forget? Or, God forbid, cry endlessly on Ayanna's shoulder?

I had no idea.

But I did know that I would find out.

Sooner or later.

The shrill siren of a police car had me jolting out of my thoughts, jerking away from West.

"Huck," I hissed, my heart hammering in my chest.

"Auggs..." he tried, reaching for me when I moved away, reaching frantically for my shorts, nearly falling on my face trying to put them on.

"Don't give me that look. You know it could be him," I objected, reaching for my phone.

"Don't," he demanded, plucking it out of my hand, holding it behind his back.

"Give me my phone back, West."

"Stop and think for a minute, honey," he responded, ducking away from me as I tried to grab for my phone.

"My brother left on some super secret mission looking all grim. You gave me a speech about how dangerous this new life is for him. And I'm hearing sirens. Give me my fucking phone, West."

"This is Miami, Auggie. Sirens are going all the time."

"Then let me confirm that."

"No."

"Um, I don't know who you think you are, West. But you don't get to tell me what I can and can not do."

"In this situation, sweetheart, I can."

I'll admit, I have always been an easy woman to rile. But what I was right in that moment was more than riled.

I was livid.

"Fuck you," I snapped, turning, rushing out of reach, flying out the door and down the stairs before he could likely even pull his pants back into place.
