"Thanks, little sis," I say to her, and her glassy eyes follow me out of the room. I bet she won't forget her first Club Zero experience.
It's late when I head out of the club, tired but pleased. My mind is on June, as it has been since the night of my gallery opening. I think of her sweet pouty mouth, the perfect curve of her hips, and her small but perfect breasts. I think of sliding inside her, fucking her until she begs for me to stop.
Soon.
I can't resist it. I decide to walk by the building of the company my father and June's mother built together. It's late, and most of the lights are out. The security guard gives me a strange look as I pass by, and I think better of lingering. I can't fuck this up now. She's almost mine. I can already feel her clit on my tongue. She's going to taste so fucking sweet when she breaks for me.
"Parker?" A voice interrupts my thoughts, and I turn around abruptly, only to spot my mirror image. It's Kade, and I immediately regret my decision to pass this place when I see his half-hopeful, half-heartbroken look. I don't respond. Instead, I position myself guardedly with my arms crossed over my chest. I'm not going to take shit from him in the middle of the night.
"It's Nox," I finally hiss.
"Right." He laughs, nervously running his fingers through his hair. Somehow, we've ended up with the same haircut again. People who didn't know better could easily mistake us for one another. A few long moments pass, and the silence is getting thick and uncomfortable.
"What are you doing here so late?" I ask.
"Late night at the office." He shrugs, refusing to meet my eyes. I look at my watch pointedly. It's one in the morning.
"Must be important," I say, mocking him as I take a step back. "Have a good night."
But Kade’s hand on my forearm stops me from moving forward, and I look at him, barely able to suppress the red mist this time. I hate him touching me. I want to fucking hurt him. Punish him for taking my little sis away from me.
"Wait, Parker," he says like some lost puppy. I pity him, I realize.
"It's Nox," I remind him again. "How many fucking times do I have to tell you? It's. Fucking. Nox."
"No, it isn't," he says with a groan. "It's Parker. It's the name our parents gave you, and you should be damn well proud of it."
I hate how he's lecturing me, already back in the role of big brother even though it's been a long time since we've been anything close to that.
"Listen," he says with a sigh, seeing that he's upset me. "I just—"
"You just what?" I interrupt. "You remembered you had a brother suddenly? You've forgotten about me for a long time, and now you want a fucking family reunion? Forget it, man. I ain't fucking interested."
"I just miss you, Parker," he says. "I was wondering if I could see you sometime. We are brothers... we're twins, for fuck's sake. Remember that? Remember our bond?"
I look at him, pondering what he said. I don't want to say yes, but thoughts of June keep coming into my mind. As much as I want to punch my brother in the face for it, he's currently the one closest to our stepsister. And I want her for myself. If that means having to play nice with my asshole bro, I'll fucking do it.
"I guess," I say noncommittally, and the way his face lights up makes him even more pathetic in my eyes. "We'll set something up."
I don't wait for his response. Walking away briskly, I tuck my hands in my pockets to hide the smell of the unknown girl's pussy on them.
I can't stay away. I've tried to. I've fought it so damn hard, this instinct to hunt down June Wildfox—now Miller—and mark as mine forever. I've been good, though. I've kept my distance. But my bad bone is still there, and I can't hold off any longer—I need June. Need to see her, touch her, smell her. Taste her. Which is the reason I'm following her to work today. And it's not the first time, either.
I have her habits down to a T. She doesn't take advantage of her driver at all. Instead, she chooses to walk from the penthouse apartment where she lives with Kade to the company building. It's only two blocks, but I still think she's being an idiot. You never know who's lurking in the shadows, after all...
Kade is usually at the office hours before her, getting an early start, but June leaves at around eight thirty, after making sure the nanny is in to take care of the kid, Theo. I'm in position across the street where I know she'll pass me in a couple of minutes. I'm nervous, and it's kind of fucking exciting. It's such an innocent feeling. Well, maybe for some people. Not me.
