“It doesn’t look this big from the road,” Jonas muttered under his breath as they flanked her.
Viper came out of the kitchen with Shade a minute later, not showing his surprise as Rider had, but his eyes were wary.
Shade and Rider followed their president’s lead as he came to stand in front of them.
“Morning, Killyama. Hammer, Jonas, it’s been a while since I’ve seen both of you.”
The men shook hands as Killyama heard doors opening from upstairs. She wondered sardonically which of the men had alerted the others above to come downstairs.
“Viper, Shade, it’s good to see you, too.” Hammer took his hand back.
Killyama raised an eyebrow at Hammer’s diffident tone. Then she got the men back on the track she wanted.
“If we’re all done shooting the shit, I want to talk to you.”
Train hurried down the steps, while Moon and Crash stayed at the top, looking over the banister. Ten to one, they were told to protect the women still sleeping.
“Go ahead. We’re all brothers here.”
She shrugged. “Fine. I’m here to call in the favor you owe me.”
Viper narrowed his eyes. “I was wondering when you were going to call it in.”
“Today’s the day.” She could see the men didn’t find her wisecrack humorous.
“What do you want?”
Killyama met Train’s eyes as he moved behind Viper. Fury glowed in them as they waited for her answer.
“Sasha. She has a warrant out for her arrest in Ohio. We’re here to take her back.”
“Sasha isn’t going—” Train tried to take a step forward, but Viper held out his arm, stopping him.
“You owe me, Viper. I didn’t ask for anything when I saved Winter’s ass. You made the offer. Now I’m calling it in. I want Sasha. It’s not a hard decision to make; you’re either going to keep your favor or not. I’m actually doing you a biggie. I could have called the State Police and told them where she was.”
“But you wouldn’t collect the bounty for that, would you?” Viper’s expression turned harsh.
“Well, there is that.” She shrugged. “Kentucky has been a pesky problem for me. The state doesn’t allow bounty hunters to make arrests. They have to go to the courthouse, and a judge orders the sheriff to make it. But I’m sure you all knew that, with Knox being on your payroll. Him and Diamond have been able to keep her from being re-arrested.” She grinned, trying once again at humor she didn’t feel. “I have to hand it to you guys; you managed to keep Sasha hidden in Ohio before stashing her where no one could get to her.”
“Ohio doesn’t have bounty hunters, either, so why do you care? Did Kane pay…?”
She tsked Viper. “Crash fucked up. You should consider hiring Jonas when you’re having someone investigated. I may be a licensed bounty hunter in Tennessee, but in Ohio, I’m a licensed surety bond agent. It’s amazing what you can accomplish on the internet, like earning a Criminal Justice degree and applying to different states for licenses.”
Viper’s lips tightened as he looked up at Moon. “Get Sasha.”
The man nodded then gave her a thunderous glower before he disappeared from sight.
“She is facing a hung jury. Her ex-boyfriend fabricated the charges. She didn’t steal any jewelry from Kane—”
“That’s not for us to decide; it’s the court’s decision.”
“Diamond is working on her case—”
“I would have gotten a lawyer in Ohio, one who knows how the good ol’ boy system works there. But that’s just me.”
Sex Piston was going to be furious when she heard that she had insulted her sister’s skills.
“What’s going on?” Sasha asked. The female Last Rider came down the steps, apprehensively moving toward the men.
Train and Rider moved closer to her in a protective gesture, and Sasha immediately put her trembling hand into Rider’s. She wanted to rip off the arm Train placed around her shoulders.
Moon must have told her to get dressed because she was wearing a T-shirt and jeans. Even without makeup and casual clothes, Sasha was an attractive woman. It had taken Killyama two hours to get dressed for the party last night, and that was with Sex Piston doing her hair and makeup. Still, she didn’t look half as good as Sasha looked this morning right after getting out of bed.
Killyama assumed a cheerful smile as she continued to annihilate the men. “I’m here to take you back to Ohio. You missed your trial date, and your bond has been revoked.”
“I don’t want to go! Viper …”
Viper moved his condemning gaze away from her to look at Sasha in sympathy. “You have to go with her.”
“But—”
“Listen to me. I’ll get you out as soon as I can. I promise.”
Sasha started crying as Killyama stepped forward to take Sasha’s arm, but Rider and Train didn’t release their hold on her. Killyama didn’t back away, either.
