“Then let’s hope a child comes of it.”
Colt had no choice but to step back. If he didn’t, he was going to fucking kill him and start a war anyway.
“Colt!”
“Not now,” Colt said.
“Do not make me say your name again.”
He turned toward Warden. “She was a fucking virgin,” he said, gritting his teeth.
“You knew this.”
“I didn’t think it was real. Look at him.” He glanced over at Daemon who looked way too happy.
“How is she?” Warden asked.
Colt gritted his teeth and looked at Warden.
“I know you have hatred for that man, but I also know Rosalie has had nothing to do with him, not ever. Gabrielle has already warned us that if we expect her to understand club life, then we’re mistaken. She never spent any time at the club. The only time she saw her father was when he stopped by.” Warden rubbed at his eyes.
“He’s done this on purpose,” Colt said. “He’s tied our hands to an innocent. What she sees will bind her to the club, to us.”
“And it will also make her his ally, potentially, I know that.”
“And yet you still went through with it,” Colt said.
“The club needs to make those deliveries. We agreed to it. Our contracts state it, and if we don’t deliver, there will be consequences.”
Colt’s hands clenched into fists. Once they fulfilled the drug runs, all debts would be paid, along with a shipment of ammunition. All they had to do was bide their time. When it came to dealing with the Evil Fuckers MC, they’d be ready.
“How long?” Colt asked.
“As long as it takes.”
There was no timeline. When it came to shifting product, it was all down to the suppliers’ availability and to make sure the right men were in place. They never did the run at the same time. Always taking different roads. By going through Evil Fuckers MC’s turf, they were changing their patterns as well, and they needed to. The law was always so close to them.
One mistake. One bad move and they were all done for.
“I need a drink.”
“Did you hurt her?” Warden asked.
“Yes.” And now he needed a drink. A stiff one. He entered the club and went straight up to the bar.
“Whiskey, double, and give me the bottle.”
Ox didn’t even moan. He grabbed the bottle of their strongest liquor and handed it to him, which he took. He’d have drunk from it, but he still needed to keep a clear head. For now, he needed to be numb.
“Where’s Rose?”
He turned to see the little blonde that was never far away from Rosalie. They were like twins and totally inseparable.
“Upstairs.”
“If I go to her, will you stop me?”
“No.”
He had no reason to see her tonight. Their next appointment was in five days.
Petal looked at him. “You did it, didn’t you? You fucked her.”
Colt turned toward her friend. He’d never spoken to this woman before. Petal often blanked him.
“Did you know today was her birthday?” Petal asked. “She turned twenty-one years old.”
He didn’t know.
“Go to her,” Colt said. “Before I change my mind and demand round two.”
“If you hurt her,” Petal said, and closed in. To any outsider looking in, it might seem that she was flirting with him, but he saw the evil look in her eyes. “I will take personal pleasure in chopping your dick off, deep-frying it, and forcing you to eat it.”
She didn’t give him a chance to argue. Petal stepped away from him. The threat was real. Ox let out a whistle.
“That woman has a way with words.” He gave another whistle. “I wonder what she’d be like if she was trying to sweet-talk you.”
Colt poured himself another shot of whiskey. He had more troubles to worry about than a little blonde.
****
Gabrielle had seen the sheets.
Her little girl had done that … for her. She felt shame fill every single part of her.
“Rosalie did good today.”
Even hearing his voice made her freeze. Gabrielle didn’t turn, she didn’t look at him, she couldn’t.
“She made me proud today.”
“You promised you would leave her alone,” Gabrielle said.
“I said that so long as I didn’t need her, I’d leave her alone.”
Gabrielle hated that she couldn’t argue with him. Slowly, she turned and then looked up at the man who had been in her nightmares for twenty-one years. Daemon. He was a monster to the core. She should have been able to save her daughter, but instead, she couldn’t save herself let alone her baby girl.
“You know, you act all high and mighty, but does Rosalie even know that you didn’t want her?” Daemon asked.
Gabrielle stared at him.
“Does she know that you wanted an abortion?”
She felt sick. He took great pleasure in humiliating her, hurting her. There was not a decent bone in his body.
He tutted. “I bet she doesn’t know that I stopped you. The only reason you have a daughter is because of me.”
