“You don’t lock your doors?”

“Nothing in here to steal. You just saw the good stuff out there.”

And when I walk through the mudroom and into the enormous kitchen, I can see that he’s right. I’ve only seen a fraction of the house, and I can already tell that this is just where Keaton sleeps and showers. It’s not a home at all.

“Such a bachelor pad,” I mutter, shaking my head. “This kitchen is to die for, and there’s nothing in it except old bananas and paper towels.”

“I always buy too many bananas.”

“Is the rest of the house this empty?”

“Pretty much.”

I can’t help but laugh as I follow him through a sparsely furnished living room. There’s just a couch, a coffee table, and a TV. That’s it.

“I’m shocked that your mom hasn’t been in here, hanging stuff on the walls and such.”

“She and my sisters threatened to, but I refused. It’s fine like this for now.”

I don’t say anything as I follow him through the rest of the large house. All the guest rooms are completely empty. The owner’s suite is big but only boasts a king-size bed and a nightstand.

I wander through the en suite bath and closet, both also mostly empty, aside from a few clothes and a few personal things.

Finally, I turn and find Keaton leaning on the doorjamb of the bedroom, waiting for my reaction.

“I just have one question.”

Chapter 6

Keaton

She looks sexy as hell, standing in the middle of my bedroom in those tight jeans and red top that shows off her tits like the answer to a prayer. I haven’t been able to take my eyes off her all night.

I’m not even mad that she told my family we’re…doing whatever it is that we’re doing.

In fact, after the initial surprise, it was actually damn funny. Sophie’s relief made me laugh. My cousin has never loved keeping secrets, but that doesn’t mean she’s not good at it. She’s like Fort Knox when it comes to being a confidant.

“What’s your question, sweetheart?”

My feet remain planted here in the doorway. She’s watching me with those sexy blue eyes, her lower lip caught between her teeth, and I want to cross to her, strip her bare, and pin her to the mattress. But first, I want to hear what’s going on in that gorgeous head of hers.

“Does the furnace in this place work? Because I’m freezing.”

God, she makes me laugh.

I cross to her now, wrap my arms around her shoulders, and tug her against me for a long kiss. She fits against me so perfectly, as if her body was sculpted just for mine.

“I’ll warm you up, babe.”

“That’s what I was hoping you’d say.”

“We really need to put food in your fridge,” Sidney says with a sigh as she turns on her side, naked and still a little sweaty, and cradles her head on her arm, watching me.

“Why?”

“Because I’m usually hungry after having adventurous sex, and I am not at all interested in eating those rotten bananas.”

“I suspect that we’ll be hanging out at your place most of the time.”

“Why?” Her brows draw together in a frown, and I instinctively reach over and smooth those lines with my thumb.

“Because you have all the good food, silly.”

That makes her chuckle. “If you really don’t like having me come here, that’s fine. My rental works.”

“I don’t mind having you here.” I’m surprised to realize that it’s true. I don’t. I can’t remember a time that I’ve ever brought a woman to my house. I always go back to their place or to a hotel. It’s just cleaner that way.

But having Sidney in my bed isn’t a hardship at all.

“I’ll stock the pantry with some snacks. What’s your favorite?”

“Wow, you’d do that for me? Hmm.” She narrows her eyes, clearly giving the thought of post-coital snacks all her attention. “I want chips. Jalapeño chips. And cookies. Maybe throw in some frozen pizza, just in case.”

“It’s like shopping for a ten-year-old’s birthday party.”

“Yes, exactly! Have that in mind while you’re shopping.”

I can’t help but chuckle before leaning over and gently kissing her lips.

“I have a question.” She tugs the covers up over her shoulder and burrows down more snuggly in the bed.

“Ask away.”

“Your sister and cousins told me earlier tonight that you don’t like anything to do with fame.”

“I want nothing to do with it,” I confirm. “It makes me uncomfortable. Sometimes, it pisses me off.”

“Fascinating.” She plants her elbow under her head and rests her cheek on her palm. “Tell me more, please.”

“It’s why I was a little uncomfortable when you told the others that we’re—”

“Friends with benefits?” The grin on her lips is smug.

“Yeah, that. I don’t date celebrities, Sid. Ever. Been there, done that, burned the fucking T-shirt.”

“That explains a lot,” she admits. “But it doesn’t change the fact that I won’t be a secret.”
