I smiled and kissed him softly. “It sure was.”
Beautiful boy.
“I’m gonna order an Uber,” he said quietly.
That made me frown. “What? You’re stayin’ with us.”
He shook his head. “I actually feel good, so you don’t have to worry or anything. But I want to be with my boy.”
Oh. Well, I couldn’t very well stop him. “I thought he had a date.”
“He’s home again.” He kissed me once more before he sat up and scanned the surroundings, maybe for his clothes. “I’ll see you in a few days in sunny Florida, though.”
“Oh my gosh, I can’t wait.” Kit stretched out alongside me and cuddled up in my arms.
“We’ll let you go on one condition,” Luke told Mack. “You’ll call us in the morning. We want to be able to check in with you.”
“Of course, Sir. I know the drill.” Mack turned a little cheeky, and he rose from the floor and kissed the side of Luke’s head in passing. “Now I’m just gonna hunt down my clothes… Colt, where did you throw my jacket?”
“Because I remember that,” I drawled.
Everyone chuckled tiredly.
“Never mind, found it.”
All right, then. Our bed was waiting for us. On the third floor. Two hundred steps away. Fuck me.
EPILOGUE
“It’s time to go!” I hollered for the hundredth fucking time.
We were supposed to be off to the airport… I checked my watch. Fifteen minutes ago.
I was ready. I’d put all the luggage in the entryway, I’d ordered a car to drive us, and I’d packed the Christmas presents for my sister and her family. We were visiting them right after our vacation to Ty’s house south of Naples.
Luke joined me in the hallway. “Please be patient, sweetheart. You know how he’s been the past few days.”
Yeah, I knew, but I didn’t want us to miss our flight.
Kit had regressed a fair bit after the holiday party. We’d actually seen it coming, though maybe not to this degree. We’d just barely managed to get through Christmas dinner with my folks, then Christmas brunch with Luke’s parents.
Right now, Kit had zero interest in being an adult. He was clingy—and that part, I fucking loved. I had no complaints. The uncertainty, however…? Fuck. And we’d been prepared for that too. Again, maybe not to this degree.
It wasn’t uncommon for people to go the opposite direction after a major event, such as taking part in group play. We’d talked and talked, and we’d made sure he didn’t have any regrets, which he didn’t. In fact, he’d gained a dose of boldness and now flirted with Corey via text.
At the same time, he was extremely anxious and didn’t want to be away from us for more than a few minutes. He was essentially going through the Little version of what I’d gone through with both him and Luke. How I tightened my hold before I could relax. In short, Kit needed some reminding that we were solid as a triad.
“Daddies! I can’t find my fighter jet jammies!”
Luke returned to the living room and called up the stairs. “I already packed them, love!”
“Oh. Okay! Then I’m ready to go!”
Praise Jesus.
If I could just get him and Luke on the plane, I could smother the boy in cuddles and whatever other reassurances he needed. And then some. I had no problems whatsoever repeating comfort a million times. It was part of my identity as a Daddy Dom. If I could just get them on the damn plane first.
“I’ll head up,” Luke said. “We really need to go.”
Really?
While I waited, not-so-patiently, I fired off a text to Macklin. He’d eventually decided to bring his boyfriend, so that should get interesting. None of us had met him before. He wasn’t from our community.
We weren’t on the same flight, though, so introductions would wait till we got down there.
The doorbell rang before I could send the text, and it was just perfect. Now the driver was chomping at the bit. He was gonna start charging extra before Kit had even put on his shoes. I opened the door…and did a double take.
Well, fuck.
“Walker,” I blurted out.
He smirked faintly. “It’s been a while, friend.”
Well, fuck.
