So, so good.

It almost seemed unreal and unfair for a man as beautiful as her husband to be such a good kisser, and while the smallest part of her was aware of how they were drawing attention from the other passengers, Emmy just couldn't make herself care.

All she cared about was this kiss that she didn't ever want to end.

Oh, please, more, more, more.

But end it inevitably did the moment the bus lurched to a stop, and Emmy's body could only ache in silent protest as her husband slowly lifted his head.

She stared up at him, waiting without knowing exactly what she was waiting for—-

"If you want more..."

Emmy nodded, vehemently.

"Then..." A sinfully hot smile curved over her husband's lips. "You'll come up with a way to be with me at the ranch, won't you?"

Chapter Eight

EMMY PLACED THE HOOF knife back on the table and reached for the brush next. There was something about cleaning and trimming her charges' hooves that reminded her of Jesus watching the feet of his disciples, and as strange as it may seem, this was one of her favorite parts of her job.

She always felt the whole process created a special bond between her and the horses, and there was something particularly satisfying about being able to remove the hardened dirt and mud that had accumulated within the collateral grooves of their frog.

Emmy was trimming the excess from Charlemagne's hooves when her phone vibrated. She ignored the call without hesitation, not wanting to be distracted. One wrong move was all it took for any of her charges to suffer from unnecessary pain.It was already a quarter to one by the time Emmy remembered to take her lunch break, and the food hall was nearly empty as she grabbed a bottle of soya milk from the drink bar.

She had just taken a sip when her phone vibrated again, and Emmy fought back a smile as she finally started reading the messages waiting for her.

Husband: And here I thought you meant it when you said you wanted more.

Husband: I'm starting to feel strangely...unwanted.

Husband: You are the only one who has made me wait this long, wife.

Emmy found it increasingly difficult not to giggle and squeal like a besotted little fool...since that was exactly how her billionaire boss made her feel. It almost seemed like she was having a secret affair at her workplace, only her lover also happened to be her husband—-

"Don't tell me you're having your lunch just now?"

Jonas walked up to her with a concerned expression, and Emmy hastily dropped her phone back into her pocket. Tall, blond, and boyishly good-looking, Jonas was one of the ranch's most successful junior trainers, and just about every girl Emmy knew had a crush on him.

"Are you having lunch just now?"

"Uh...yeah." Emmy did her best to sound friendly even when she felt shy and awkward. Jonas was as mad about horses as she was. It was all she needed to know that he was a good guy.

Jonas looked around, and his pulse raced when he realized this could be the perfect opportunity to ask Emmy for a date. But before he could say a word, he saw their billionaire boss enter the food hall, and his throat immediately dried up.

Was he imagining things? Rowland Asherfield couldn't be glaring at him. Could he?

Emmy's brows furrowed when she looked up and saw Jonas' face losing color. Huh? The way he was staring at something behind her piqued her curiosity, and as soon as she turned around, her gaze abruptly collided with a pair of dark, unsmiling eyes.

Aaah!

Emmy choked in surprise, and the next thing she knew, a mouthful of milk had landed directly on her husband's shirt.

Chapter Nine

ROWLAND STRUGGLED TO curb his impatience as morning transitioned into noon, and he had yet to receive a single text from his wife.

He finally succumbed to the temptation of stalking her, and an 8AM Emerald popped on his screen with just a few clicks on his keyboard.

I should've known.

His wife was hard at work trimming and cleaning the hooves of the horses in her charge, and she was still at it well past her lunch break. Since he also had access to her records with HR, he knew she considered the horses her 'babies', and that her dedication to work had somewhat alienated her from the rest of her peers.

Rowland's mood turned brooding as he switched from one security camera to another to continue stalking his wife.

HR wasn't his only source of information about his Emerald. His company also had ties with a detective agency, and the latter had done an excellent job at compiling information about her personal life. It was because of their report that Rowland knew marriage would be the only way for him to have her, and it was the same report as well that had him cursing under his breath when he saw a younger man staring at his wife the moment she entered the food hall.
