I shudder out a breath. “I’ve been kissed before, Brock.”

His growl is animalistic and possessive. “Of course you have, Sunshine. You’re so beautiful and smart and funny, any guy would be lucky to get the chance to kiss you. Doesn’t mean I like it though, or that it should be without your permission.”

I wrap my hands around his shoulders and lean into his chest. “I get that, and I do agree. Do you think I like the thought of you kissing those thousands and thousands of women you’ve been with?”

Brock snorts out a laugh. “Jesus, you have to stop reading the tabloids. Thousands and thousands?”

“Hundreds and hundreds?” I tease, drawing another chuckle from his lips.

When he meets my gaze, he sobers. “I have a past. Everyone does, and I won’t deny it. But I get what you’re saying. What happened in the past stays there.”

I nod. “I know women throw themselves at you. I can’t blame them for it, because you’re, well, you’re hot. Like when that woman in the bar touched your arm. You didn’t ask her to, but she did it anyway. That’s what happened with my old boss. He initiated something that was uninvited, and I stopped it. I didn’t tell anyone because I just didn’t want the drama. If it had gone farther, then I would have said something, but a kiss is hardly anything to get worked up about.”

He growls again, his hands gripping my back as he holds me close. “I’m going to erase him from your memory.”

I can’t help but smile. “You already have.”

His mouth is powerful, his lips urgent, as he presses his to mine for the first time in three long days. “God, I’ve been waiting to kiss these lips for what feels like forever,” he whispers, sliding his mouth so easily against mine.

“Me too,” I reply, rubbing my body against his like a cat in heat.

A thump echoes from upstairs, causing us to separate well before either of us are ready. When we hear my brother’s feet descending the stairs, Brock finally releases his hold on my body and gives me an unamused look. “I’m going to have to take another cold shower.”

I flash him a quick grin. “Or you could just sneak into my room later tonight after my brother is sleeping.”

I turn and go to the fridge just as Caleb returns. “That shower felt fucking wonderful. I hate flying, especially after a long night of post-game celebrating,” he announces, wiggling his eyebrows.

“Gross,” I mutter, pulling out the platter of patties I made earlier.

“Damn, Joey, those look amazing,” my brother says, checking over the food.

“I minced up green onions, mushrooms, and green peppers and mixed it all into the ground beef. Oh, and I found fresh pepper jack cheese at the deli, so I thought we’d throw that on top.”

Brock whistles in appreciation. “How about I run up and shower, and then I’ll throw them on the grill?”

“You grill, I’ll supervise,” Caleb declares, grabbing another bottle of water from the fridge.

Brock goes upstairs to shower, and while my brother holds and snuggles my cat that he claims he didn’t miss, I take the opportunity to run a clean laundry basket up to my room. The moment I cross the threshold, a familiar scent fills my nostrils. Instantly, I look for the note I know is here somewhere. I find it on my pillow, just like the previous ones left for me.

My heart is practically leaping with joy in my chest as I grab the slip of paper.

Once upon a time, there was this sexy football player who couldn’t wait to get home to see the amazing woman who tied him in knots. It had been two horribly long nights since he saw her, and he wanted nothing more than to hold her in his arms. He wanted her in his bed too, but not just for the night. For much longer. He thinks about her day and night, can’t seem to stop. The things he wants to do to her when they’re alone keep him up at night, especially since he knows how she sounds when she comes. All he wants is her.

All. The. Time.

She’s his obsession, and for the first time in his life, he’s not scared. In fact, he craves more.

To be continued…

CHAPTER

FIFTEEN

Brock

Dinner was incredible, and the company even more so. I had to make a conscious effort not to stare at Joey. I wanted more than anything to sit next to her and snuggle up to her. Three days without Joey in my arms is too damn long. Add in the revelation about that dickhead boss of hers, and the temptation to hold her close and never let go is strong.

That’s why I called it an early night. I couldn’t sit there in the living room having a casual conversation and not pull her onto my lap, wrap my arms around her, and bury my face in her neck. It’s not even about sex at this point. Sure, our chemistry is off the fucking charts, but it’s more than that with her. I just need to be next to her.
