Luke came in, standing in the doorway, leaning his shoulder against the jamb. “I can’t tell you how good you look in our bed, Lady.”
Our bed. I loved how those words sounded.
“I thought you might like a bath,” he said, his eyes never leaving mine.
“As long as you join me.”
He leaned over the bed, bending and kissing me. “Try to keep me away.”
The water was warm. Luke’s embrace was warmer. We were quiet for a bit, simply enjoying the peace and being together. Then he spoke.
“How do you see the future, Sammy?”
We’d touched on the subject but not discussed it fully yet.
I turned, pulling my legs up and facing him. He leaned over, tugging me close. “Talk to me.”
“I’m freelance and do what I want. I want to keep doing these kinds of shows—helping small businesses, families. The network wants them too. But I want to spend more time here on the ranch being part of ‘Home on the Range.’”
He smiled, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. “I love that name you came up with for the brochure and website. And I love the thought of you here. But I don’t want you to give up what you love.”
“I’m not. I’m adding to it.” I drew in a deep breath. “I was serious about adoption, Luke. We could give a child—or children—a good life here.”
“I’d like that. But I want you to myself for a while.”
I kissed him. “I’d like that too.”
“We have to move your things here.”
“I don’t have a lot. Mila will be in the house, so she can have the furniture. I have some personal things. Would you come back to Port Albany with me while I get them? You could meet more of my family.”
“Yes,” he said simply. “When you’re ready, we’ll go.”
“After the show airs and we deal with all the wonderful chaos that will happen.”
He smiled, tilting his head. “I love the chaos you brought with you. You turned my world upside down, yet somehow righted it at the same time. You stole my heart, Sammy. It’s yours forever.”
He shocked me as he held up a pretty ring. “I’m yours forever, if you’ll have me.”
He looked nervous. Earnest. Hopeful. Worried.
Tears filled my eyes. “Yes.”
He slipped the sapphire and diamond ring on my finger, bending and kissing it. “I’ll get you something bigger one day.”
“I don’t need anything bigger. I only need you.”
He dragged me into his arms, kissing me. “You have me.”
I pulled his mouth back to mine, losing myself in his kiss. It started sweet and warm, and soon turned into blistering heat. He caressed me, his fingers smoothing over my skin, cupping my breasts and moving my legs so I was on his lap. Water splashed over the edge of the tub as we discovered each other again. He groaned as I flicked his nipples, nibbled his neck, and stroked his cock. I shivered as he slid his fingers over my clit, light and teasing. I gasped as he slipped them inside, pressing his thumb on my clit.
“It’s been too long, Lady. Too long without you.”
“Then take me, Luke,” I pleaded.
He pulled me up, notching himself at my entrance. Our eyes locked as I slid down, inch by inch until we were flush. He groaned and cursed, filling me completely. We began to move, our bodies locked together, our motions fluid and fast.
He gripped my neck, his eyes intense and filled with emotion. “Mine, Sammy. You’re all mine.”
“Yes,” I moaned. “Yours, Cowboy.”
“And you’re going to be my wife. My wife.”
His words did something to me, and my orgasm hit me. I cried out, feeling Luke stiffen and fall with me. He pulled me against him, my head resting on his shoulder as we came down from our high.
“We’re going to have a great life together. I promise,” he murmured.
“I know.”
“I love you, Lady,” he murmured. “I love you so much.”
“I love you more.”
He pressed a kiss to my head. “Thank God.”
EPILOGUE
SAMMY
THREE YEARS LATER
I walked out to the porch, a steaming cup of coffee in my hand. It was early, the sun barely breaking over the horizon. The air held the predawn chilliness, and I sat down on the swing Luke had made for me, looking around the ranch. It was still and peaceful, but that would change soon. The animals would wake, chores would begin, and the guests would rise, looking forward to another day on the ranch.
Home on the Range hit the ground running and exploded. The soft opening had been a success. By the time the three days were over, Rachel had sold all the honey, cheese, and blankets she had produced and had a waiting list of people wanting more. I helped Rachel hire people from the local towns, and we never looked back. Every aspect of the business was successful.
