“You are.” She reached out and trailed her finger down my chest, her touch warming my skin. “You treat people with respect. You’re amazing with your sister. Your staff thinks the world of you. You’re kind and wonderful.”
“I wasn’t kind and wonderful when we met.”
She grinned. “I kinda liked that too. The sparks and how you refuse to give an inch with me. You turn me on, Cowboy. You have from the second I met you.” She leaned up on her toes, her lips next to my ear. “Just being close to you makes me wet.”
I wrapped my hands around her arms, my erection kicking up. “Enough foreplay. My room, Lady. Now.”
“You gonna make me?” she teased, her eyes dancing.
She didn’t expect my move. In a second, I had her over my shoulder, carrying her down the hall, holding tight to her ass as she sputtered and cursed me.
I dropped her on the bed, not giving her a chance to escape. I caged her in with my arms, hovering over her. “You drive me crazy.”
She looped her arms around my neck. “Right back at you.”
“You ready for more dancing, Lady?”
“Dancing?”
“Mattress dancing. I’m about to rock your world.”
“Bring it on, Cowboy.”
CHAPTER SIXTEEN
SAMMY
“What’s the matter?” Luke’s voice was low and raspy in the dim room.
I glanced over my shoulder. He was sprawled on the bed, gloriously naked. Every muscle, sinew, and tendon visible to my gaze. He was cut from rock, hard, rigid, and powerful. Yet his hands touched me with care, and even in our most passionate of moments, I felt safe with him. He had shown he was equally gifted on a mattress as he was on the barn floor, the side of the building, or the top of a bathroom vanity. He played me like a fiddle, and he knew exactly how to draw that bow.
“I thought you’d want me to leave,” I confessed.
“Did I ask you to go?”
“No,” I admitted. “I didn’t want to outstay my welcome.”
He reached over, pulling me back against him. “Stay, Lady. I like you beside me.” He pressed his mouth to my shoulder. “And I’m not done with you.”
“Oh,” I breathed out.
He tugged me down, and a small gasp escaped my mouth. He sat up. “What?”
“Nothing.”
He snapped on the light beside him, looking at me, aghast. “You’re still sore. You’re in pain, and you let me—” He stopped talking, shaking his head. “Jesus, I hurt you.”
“No. I’m a bit stiff at times, and my shoulder is a little sore.” I smiled at him reassuringly. “The barn was really hard.”
“Why didn’t you stop me?”
“I didn’t want to stop you. I’m fine,” I insisted. “I’ll try soaking in the tub again.”
“Try?”
I chuckled. “It’s not a very deep tub. I couldn’t really get much relief from it the other night. A good hot shower will help.” I tugged him back down. “Later.”
He wrapped his arms around me, pulling me close. I had never been a huge after-sex snuggler, but with Luke, it felt right. I liked being in his arms. He ran his fingers over my shoulder, his touch gentle. “No more wall sex,” he muttered.
I pouted up at him. “But you’re really good at it.”
He smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “I don’t like to see marks on you or know you’re still sore from the tumble.”
“Relax, Cowboy.”
He kissed the top of my head, and the quiet around us relaxed me. I drifted a little, frowning as I felt him slip out of bed.
“Where are you going?”
“I’ll be right back. Stay.”
I must have dozed again, hearing water running in my haze. Then Luke appeared beside the bed, drawing back the blanket. “Come with me.”
I took his hand and let him lead me. We went through his masculine en suite, and he slid open a door I hadn’t noticed the first time I peeked in.
I gasped in delight at the small room I stepped down into. The walls were covered in river rock, the floor cedar. In the middle of the room was an oversized tub—big enough for two people and deep enough to submerge up to your neck. Over the tub was a skylight—you could lie back and see the stars or watch the rain while soaking. I turned to Luke.
“This is amazing! It’s absolutely gorgeous. It reminds me of my idea for the bathhouse, except this is so much better. The rocks on the wall—it’s like you’re in your own little cave.”
“Get in,” he said, holding out his hand.
I climbed in, sinking down into the water, groaning in delight as the heat surrounded me.
“I didn’t take you for a tub guy, Cowboy.”
“I’m not.” He drew in a deep breath. “In fact, I’ve never used this room. I hate it.”
Something in his tone made me tense. I looked at him, standing beside the tub, and I saw the rigidity in him. Even in the dim light, I could see the pain in his eyes.
