Damn, she wore my brand on the inside of her thighs for days. Every time they would fade, I’d suck them back to life.

Fuck, Knight. Pull it together.

I shake off my thoughts as she makes her way to me. When she stops and looks up at me, I place a hand on her waist and just barely stop myself from kissing her lips. Instead, I peck her cheek and move to pull her chair out.

“You look amazing,” I say as I take my own seat.

“Can I get you anything?” The waitress says to Rem, reminding me that she was there talking to me.

“I’ll have whatever he’s having,” she replies.

“Make that two of those. Thanks.”

The waitress mumbles something that sounds like, the gorgeous ones are always taken. I don’t stop to think on her words. I’m too lost staring at the stunning woman sitting beside me.

“Sorry I took so long,” she says shyly.

Fuck, I love when she gets like this. There are sides of Rem that I know I’m the only one who gets to see. Her shy side is one.

“You’re fine. Traffic can be killer.”

I won’t add that I know she’s late because she put more into this than meeting up for drinks with a friend. She smells fucking delicious. I want to take a bite out of her ass. Scratch that. I want to eat her ass until she screams my name, but friends don’t do shit like that.

“This place is nice,” she says as she looks around.

I picked this bar for its chic vibe and the intimacy the tables bring. For example, we’re sitting close enough for me to see the lash that’s sitting on her cheekbone. I lean in and pluck the hair from her face.

“Make a wish,” I say softly.

Reminisce

His voice shoots through me like a thunderbolt. It’s so deep and sensual. Like a caress from one of his large hands. I’m playing with fire, but I had to see if this is just a friendship thing.

Sorry, not sorry. I want to know if Knight is just trying to make things easy because of our families. It’s a bit selfish, but I couldn’t help myself. I want to know if he could still be mine.

I make a wish and blow on the lash on his fingertip. When I look at him through my lashes, he’s biting his lip and staring down into my eyes. I shift in my seat a little.

“What did you wish for?”

“I can’t tell you that,” I say with a smile.

“Then, how am I supposed to make it come true?”

I turn away without a reply to look at one of the TV screens on the wall. His hand on my thigh brings my attention back to him. The heat from his palm scorches my skin.

Before he can say anything, the waitress returns with our beers. She looks between us and mumbles something to herself. I pull a face and lift a brow.

“Everyone wants what you can so easily have,” Knight breathes into my ear.

I turn to him. I’m almost blown over by the heated look in his eyes. The waitress is forgotten as I try to keep my hands to myself.

“You want to play a game of darts?” he asks as if he didn’t just turn my panties into the base of a waterfall.

“Sure, why not,” I reply breathlessly.

I want to kick my own ass as he smiles that delicious smile. To avoid his gaze, I stand and reach for my beer. However, Knight is faster. He has both drinks in hand and gestures for me to walk ahead of him.

I start for the dartboard across the bar. Halfway there, I look over my shoulder and find Knight with his eyes glued to my backside. His lip is tucked between his teeth again. I look lower and find his slacks showing off that thick print.

My mouth waters. How many weeks has it been since the last time we had sex? Friends, friends, friends. Yeah, no matter how many times I shout that in my head it doesn’t change anything.

Placing our beers on a table closer to the dartboard, he goes to retrieve the darts. I take a long sip of my beer as I watch the smooth way he walks.

“You may have an advantage this time,” he says as he hands over the darts.

“Oh yeah, why is that?”

He rolls his left shoulder. “I’m still working to recover my range of motion.”

I place the darts down. “Maybe we shouldn’t.”

He picks them up and hands them back to me. “Have you seen me let anything stop me?” he’s words come out feeling like we’re talking about more than throwing darts. “I’ll be fine. Let’s play. We came out to have a good time.”

I stare at him for a few moments before I nod and take the darts. We get into a game, and soon we’re laughing and throwing back beers like old friends. Okay, that’s a lie.
