“Yes! So much fun. Chloe is amazing. I love your sister.” She threw her arms around his neck.
Over her shoulder, the sister in question beamed and gave him a thumbs up. “She’s amazing,” Chloe mouthed.
Scott grinned. Shit, the two most important people in his life got along as though they’d been friends forever. “Help me get the bonfire going?” he whispered in Liv’s ear.
“Yes! Let’s do that.” She unwound her arms, grabbed his hand, and towed him around to the back of the clubhouse toward the huge firepit.
As soon as they were out of sight from everyone else, he backed her against the building and kissed the ever-loving hell out of her. Liv melted against him. That was one of his favorite things about kissing her. Every time. She fully surrendered herself to him. The rest of the world disappeared, and they lived in their own bubble of bliss.
“Wow,” she said, sounding dazed. “That was one hell of a kiss. What did I do to deserve that?”
“You love me,” he said.
She grinned. “I sure do.”
“I’m glad you and Chloe are getting along. It means a lot to me.”
She wiped his mouth with her thumb, probably getting rid of her lipstick. “I know. And I mean it when I say she’s great. Everything go well in church?”
“Yeah, baby. It’s all good.”
“Hey, Scott?” she asked.
He gazed down into her glassy green eyes. “Hmm?”
“In case I haven’t said it yet, I’m not leaving. Ever. You’re stuck with me because I love you.”
He chuckled. Tipsy Olivia cracked him up. “Hey, Liv?”
“Yeah?”
“If I haven’t said it yet, you’re the best goddamn thing that’s ever happened to me, and I’ll love you to the fucking end of the road.”
She grinned, and he couldn’t resist another kiss.
“You’ve told me,” she said with a grin. “Lots of times. But it gets better each time.”
He couldn’t have said it better. Each day, each second with Liv was better than the one before, and that was saying something because each second he spent with her was paradise.
