Flipping him the bird, I take a swallow. It burns like hell going down, but I like the way it warms my entire body almost immediately. I drink once more, and his green eyes glitter with approval.

I pull out my phone, letting out a soft sigh.

Me: I wish you knew ASL.

“I’ll learn it,” he says, and I believe him. “But when we’re out here, we don’t need words.”

My head falls back down to my phone as I type, but he plucks it from my grip, setting it on the ground beside me. I frown at him in confusion, signing to him even though he doesn’t know the language. Why not?

He grins, leaning so close I can smell the liquor on his breath. “I don’t plan on talking.”

I’m confused until his lips brush against mine. Long, slender fingers dive into my hair as promised, and he clutches on, drawing me close to him. I gasp, and he uses the opportunity to thrust his tongue into my mouth.

My first kiss.

Holy shit.

Everything fades around me as I focus on his taste. How good he smells. The groans he makes in his throat as he teases his tongue along mine. It’s incredible. Kissing. I want to do it all the time. He starts to pull away, but I’m too starved for tenderness and affection. I follow him, letting my body weight fall against his, pushing him to the earth. From this position, I can dive deeper into his mouth, exploring him as I crave to. His hips lift, grinding his erection against mine, and I nearly come from the fantastic sensation.

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

I nip at his bottom lip, testing the resistance and finding I love the sounds he makes when I do it. I’m trembling with need, quickly losing the thread of control I normally have such a death grip on. All that matters in this moment is Cash’s tongue and lips and teeth and the sexy sounds keening from him.

Where the hell is he?

Cy’s words are furious and slightly terrified, nearly a spine-chilling howl rattling through the bond I stupidly somehow reopened myself to. I sense him moving toward my location with rapid speed. Not as fast as when he shifts from man to wolf, but pretty damn close. I pull away, but Cash mistakes it for playfulness. He rolls us, landing on top of me. His grin is cute and happy for all of three seconds.

“Get the fuck off him!” Cy yanks Cash up by his bicep, jerking him off me.

I scramble to my feet, desperately signing to Cy to stop. He conveniently ignores me to snarl in Cash’s face. If Cash is afraid, he doesn’t let on, just faces off with the Alpha of our pack like he could take him in a fight. Reaching between them, I grab hold of Cy’s jaw, forcefully dragging his attention to me.

Let. Go.

I don’t have to sign the words, but he must understand the intent in my glare because he obeys. Cash stumbles back and holds his shoulder, frowning hard.

“What was that for?” Cash demands, face screwed into a frown.

“Don’t give me that shit,” Cy growls. “You two were sneaking out!”

“We’re both old enough,” Cash stupidly argues.

Cy gestures for the bottle of liquor. “Not for that. Both of you. Let’s go.”

Neither of us make a move to leave, so Cy grabs me by the collar of my coat and all but drags me back in the direction we came from. Humiliation has the threat of tears stinging my eyes. I’ve longed for a voice many times, but right now, I wish I could scream in Cy’s face.

You’re ruining my life.

He can’t hear me, but I send those thoughts through the bond, praying he can feel them like whips. The visible flinch he makes tells me it hit its intended mark.

We eventually reach the road. Cy gives me an impatient shove toward the cabin before turning on Cash, who’s still holding on to his shoulder.

I’m sorry, I sign to Cash though he doesn’t understand what it means.

Ignoring Cy, Cash says to me, “I’ll talk to you later. Tonight was…”

Amazing. I sign the word and smile at him.

He imitates the gesture, wincing slightly as though in pain. “Oh, and you dropped this.” He tosses my phone at me, and I catch it mid-air. “Bye, Rem.”

I shove it into my pocket. I give him a wave and manage to keep my anger in check until his figure walks far enough away I can’t see him in the shadows any longer. Then, with my teeth bared, I push Cy as hard as I can. Of course, since he’s built like a tank, he barely moves. He reaches for me, but I smack his hand away.

I. Hate. You.

My signed words are harsh. I enunciate the seriousness of them by mouthing the words as well as shooting them to him through the bond.
