And by discussion, I mean I threw a fit until he agreed to take my money. I'm pretty sure I saw him stuffing the check in the garbage can on his way to work yesterday, but one battle at a time. I love that he wants to do all of this for me, but it's too much. It's costing him a fortune. And since I just so happen to have one of those…well, it just makes sense for us to use it to cover the cost of repairs.

At least until the lawyer manages to put the fear of God into Adam Sheffield's insurance company. The pot-loving inspector does have insurance. But as soon as my lawyer explained the issue with his work and the condition of my pipes, Adam cursed him out and hung up on him. Highly unprofessional.

So the lawyer is skipping him and going straight to the insurance company to file the claim. It'll take a little time, but they'll pay up eventually. Mr. Adam Sheffield will probably lose his coverage by the time it's over with, but that's not my problem to solve.

"Once I get this last one installed today, you'll have working water again," Caleb says, parking close to the doors. "You'll be able to move back into your place while I finish up repairing the damage from the leak."

"So what you're saying is that you're ready to get rid of me," I tease, my voice light. I know that's not really what he means, but I can't pass up the opportunity to give him a little grief.

"Hell no," he growls, his voice low and intense as he whips around to face me. His earnest expression makes my heart flutter and race. "You can stay as long as you want, baby. Forever, if it makes you happy."

Oh, my goodness.

"I just figured a certain little terrorist would be happy to get the fuck out of the wilderness."

A peal of laughter erupts from my lips. Koda loves Caleb's cabin…so long as he's inside it. But, as Frost said, the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, and my puppy is not about that life. He finds them suspicious and moderately terrifying. The first time a bush rustled while he was peeing on it, he practically climbed Caleb's leg trying to get away from it. And he hadn't stopped peeing by then, either.

Caleb ended up with pee halfway up his leg.

I laughed so hard I fell in a mudhole.

We all had to have baths when we got back inside. My cranky boys didn't stop glaring at me until I gave them both ample attention. Caleb and I required another shower after I was finished paying him attention.

"He does miss civilization," I agree, still giggling. I'm not ready to go home, though. I've gotten used to falling asleep in Caleb's arms every night and waking up with him in the mornings. The thought of returning to my large and lonely bed without him doesn't appeal to me.

Caleb pockets the keys. His muscular arms strain against his T-shirt as he hops out of the truck. His piercing blue eyes sparkle as he circles around the truck to help me out, making my heart skip a beat. He's so freaking sexy to me.

We've only been to town a couple times, but like usual, I peek all around, checking to make sure no one is staring at me. I can't help it!

Caleb notices me casting furtive glances over my shoulder. He doesn't say anything. He just brushes his lips across my forehead in a reassuring kiss before slipping his hand into mine.

I want to kick myself. Every day, I tell myself this is the day I'm going to tell him the truth, but then I find a new reason to put it off. The simple truth is…I'm terrified of what happens once he knows that I'm not just some girl.

Will he still want me when he finds out that I'm Sutton Reynolds, daughter of Cami and Bentley Reynolds? When he finds out that I've followed in their footsteps? My heart screams yes, but my head isn't so easily convinced. My head knows all too well what he'd be giving up to be with me—privacy and normalcy aren't small things, especially for a man like him.

"Will you stay with me at my house?" I blurt, unable to stand the thought of spending a single night away from him. I need to store up a lifetime of memories to sustain me…just in case I have to spend the rest of my life without him. Otherwise, I'm not going to survive him breaking my heart.

He stops walking, his hand outstretched toward the door to the store. A look of surprise flickers across his handsome face. "You thought you were going back to your place alone, Sunshine?"

"I…I don't know," I whisper, shrugging.
