She had hired maids to clean the house and a cook to take care of the many social events her husband, as the town’s leading attorney, was wont to take part in on a regular basis. His first wife had been Susie Homemaker, who loved doing all that stuff, while Stella preferred to spend her days shopping and getting her hair and nails done. He had the money, so why not. She’d even convinced him that it was good for his image having a wife who could jet around as she pleased in the little sports car he’d bought her.

He’d reveled in the fact that he was the envy of all his peers and had given in to all her demands until the day he came home early and caught his son walking from his bedroom with her lying naked on the bed. She’d played it off well, claiming that Jr. had walked in the room looking for something unaware that she was in there, but she was never quite sure if he bought it.

Things had become a bit strained between them with him staying later and later at the office. Then he started getting sick here and there. Nothing serious at first, nothing the doctor could pinpoint anyway. Of course, by then, Stella had learned a little bit more about how to get rid of a nuisance. The knowledge that certain foods shouldn’t be mixed and fed to someone who had a preexisting condition was very handy indeed.

By the time Don Sr.’s health had deteriorated, everyone was singing her praises for sticking by him and taking such good care of him and his son. A young woman like her with a husband twice her age, something that wasn’t frowned upon back then as much as it is now, who was willing to be the sole caretaker of her dying husband was to be lauded. She’d eaten it all up.

By the time she finished him off, everyone had thought once again that it was his illness that had done it. Don Jr. was in his first year of university, but he still came home every chance he got, so hooked on her pussy, was he. Don Sr. had left mostly everything to his son, but he’d not left her out, showing that her pillow talk had worked in the years before her affair with his son had been discovered.

She’d always bemoaned the fact that her poor mother had been left destitute when her own dad had died and how afraid she was of the same thing happening to her. When he’d complain that he was in good health and she need not worry, she’d assured him that her dad was a man in his prime and in excellent health who’d just up and died without warning.

Her moaning and groaning and worn him down enough that he’d changed his will to add her, but it was not enough. She hadn’t meant to latch onto Jr. the way she had, not at first anyway. Just enough to leech some more of that inherited wealth from him.

But when she realized the hold she had on him, she knew that she wouldn’t find better. Sure she could start all over again in another place with someone else. But she was getting older by the day’s standards and besides she liked fucking the boy. She had the best of both worlds. A young lover who was hooked on the things she did to him in bed, and access to all that money she couldn’t live without.

So she’d moved to the university town as the grieving stepmother, and they’d moved in together, which no one batted a lash at. They’d fucked like bunnies every chance they got. It’s a wonder he’d graduated, let alone passed the bar years later. And with each year, her hold on him had grown even tighter.

They both hit their prime together, and she knew just how to keep him satisfied and coming back for more. She knew he still got off on fucking his dead father’s wife. Besides, who else was going to whip his ass and keep his dick hard without letting it be known to the whole world? Something he was deathly afraid of.

So for many years, things had been smooth sailing. Until one day, she looked in the mirror and almost didn’t recognize the person staring back at her. She’d gone and aged while she wasn’t looking, and it seemed like everything started to come apart then. The world she’d built for herself no longer seemed plausible, and everything made her afraid. Still, she’d been able to keep it together.

Don didn’t seem to notice the changes in her, or if he did, he didn’t say anything, but then things began to change rapidly in the next few years. It started with early-onset perimenopause when she was in her late forties. Don had met someone and wanted to get married. Suddenly the prospect of being alone had scared her more than anything she could imagine.
