Now she counted down the minutes until it was time to clock out, her heart racing with excitement as she wondered what he had planned for them this time. She wasn’t expecting things to get too heavy since his housekeeper would be around, plus the fact that he hadn’t made any real moves in that direction as yet.
The woman had been there every time she’d stopped by, and she got the feeling that the older lady didn’t quite approve of their budding relationship. She hadn’t come right out and said anything, of course, but the look on her face and the way she pinched her lips closed each time Celia addressed her was a dead giveaway.
Celia shrugged it off as she headed out to her car. They’re both adults, and though to some it may seem like it’s too soon for him to move on after his wife died, she knew the hell he’d gone through to get to this point. She wasn’t about to put him off for fear of what a few wagging tongues might say, not anymore anyway.
She may have felt that way in the beginning, but only the two of them knew how much they’d shared in the last few months, how close they’d grown to each other, and how they’d helped each other get through that awful time.
As she drove out to the farm, she felt that same sense of excitement she always gets when she knows she’s about to see him. It hasn’t changed but only seems to grow stronger these days. It’s an odd sense of excited calmness, that’s the effect the place has on her, mixed with her growing feelings for him.
As she turned onto the road leading to the house, her heart knocked against her chest as she wondered if he’d kiss her again. He’s been playing stingy with the kisses, always keeping her guessing.
Some nights he’d end their time together with a kiss, and some nights he’d just walk away after following her home in his truck and walking her to her door. It was making her nuts. She was to the point where she’d spend the whole evening on tenterhooks wondering which one it would be.
She didn’t even care that he might be doing it on purpose, that he might be playing her, stringing her along like his own little puppet, she wanted more. No one else has ever left her feeling so helpless with need, and she found that she liked it, especially with the pressure of her job, it was relaxing to have someone else take over, take the lead so to speak.
As she stepped out of the car, she saw Eileen the housekeeper getting into hers. That’s odd; she could’ve sworn she lived in. She shrugged her shoulders and walked up to the door, waving at the other woman as she drove slowly by. She didn’t bother to acknowledge her.
Celia had never asked, but from the housekeeper’s behavior, she got the sense that she might’ve been very close to his now-dead wife. She wasn’t sure that she should let that stop her from enjoying her time with him, though, and was sure if she brought it up to him, he’d feel the same. Still, it made her feel a certain way.
She rang the bell, but it was as if he’d been standing there waiting for her to show up because the door had been snatched open before the end of the first ring. The door was barely open before he dragged her inside and slammed it behind her before pushing her back against it with his mouth coming down, forcefully on hers.
She went under hard and fast, especially when he held her hands above her head, keeping her in place as he ravished her mouth with his teeth and tongue. She didn’t know it was possible to go up in flames that quick.
Always before with the very few partners she’d had, it had taken her some time to get into the heat of things. Because of all the control she had to exert at work, it was hard for her to give up control, and the few men she’d dated had found her too intimidating to take over in bed.
Not Riley, with just one kiss, he’d shown her that he was far from intimidated by the badge she wore, and maybe that’s why she was ready to melt in his arms less than a minute after he started kissing her.
He pressed his hard frame against her much softer one, and she felt the thick growth between his thighs pressing into her softness. She moaned feverishly into his mouth and didn’t resist when he tugged at her shirt, sending buttons flying in all directions so he could get at her breasts.
His fingers moved to her jeans next, and she held her breath as he undid the button and pulled the zipper down. She was torn between calling a halt, afraid of moving too fast, and just letting go and letting things go where they will.
