Whoever she is though, it’s my responsibility to make sure her life from this day on is nothing but perfect. And from the way this one is acting I’m going to be on my own with that shit since everyone else’s focus will be on my son. I’m not even mad; maybe it would mean my parents and the old monarch crawling out of my ass for a change. Poor kid, he’s not even here yet and already his existence is causing an uproar.
“I don’t think she’ll want steak for breakfast but we’ll see.”
“She might not, but the little prince will.” He went back to his chopping and choosing and didn’t even acknowledge my leaving. I shook my head at the swiftness with which he’d shifted ranks.
She was still asleep and I knew if I went back to her I’d only fuck her again and then she’d wake up sore so I tried to find something to do with myself. It was the first time in too long to count since I’d awakened at this time of day; just one in a long line of many changes I’m willing to make for her.
As I moved through the house to the outdoors I could sense the elders lurking around getting ready to stick their noses in. They must’ve had one hell of a night last night. I’m sure they’d felt the power I’d exerted here in the earthly realm though it hadn’t been much. It makes sense for them to be monitoring me at this time. But now that the deed was done so to speak, I want them gone.
“What do you want?” As if I couldn’t sense him in the shadows. It’s always the same old fuck each time, somehow the others always talk him into coming forward with their shit. “We were just checking in, all seems to be going well. Tell me…”
“No, go home, tell my grandfather that I survived.”
He knew better than to argue and slithered his ass out of my place. I knew he was about to ask me if my woman was with child, something I’m not ready to share with anyone just yet. I want to take this time for just her and I and our little family before inviting the others in, because I know once that’s done our lives will no longer be our own.
I’ll protect her even from my mother not to mention the monarch who’s been scheming for a great grandson for ages. It has a lot to do with my uncle who’d lost his mind I’m sure, the son he’d lost. And thinking of him brought my thoughts to another issue that I could pay attention to now that she was completely mine.
There are some who might try to give her a hard time because of her clan and the rift between our people. I don’t kid myself that because they fear me they won’t try, so I’m going to have to stay on top of that, but that’s for later, for when we go back to my home. For now I’ll keep her here and watch over the both of them.
NATALIA
I woke up to find myself alone in his room. It was still light outside but he was nowhere to be found. I was still in that place between sleep and wake so when I felt the presence in the room with me but saw no one with my naked eye panic set in and I jumped up off the bed looking for the danger. I searched every corner of the room with my senses but I was alone.
I heard a voice in my head. It wasn’t mine but it sounded like it was coming from inside of me. It was a weird sensation to say the least and not something I’ve ever dealt with before but before I could scare myself half to death I felt Lucien’s presence so strongly that I looked around expecting him to be lurking in the shadows. Was that him playing tricks on me?
I suddenly grew dizzy and faint, maybe because I’d jumped up too suddenly, and had to sit down on the bed until I no longer felt like I was going to pass out again. That voice was still there in the background, almost like someone was trying to get my attention. I opened my senses and let it come to me. Just then the door opened and he walked in carrying a tray.
The look he gave me made me blush and I was lost for what to say to him after all that we’d done together on this bed, so I said the first thing that came to mind.
“I need to go home, it’s getting late and my family will be worried.”
“One, you’re not going anywhere, and two, that voice you’re hearing is your son.” I looked at him like he was crazy. I knew his kind was evil I never heard about the crazy part.
