“What is your favorite exercise?” Grey probed.
“Can we spot each other on the weights?” Mack asked hesitantly, eyeing the weight bench and all the free weights.
“I like that idea. Then a bit of cardio before dinner?”
“I ran this morning. Are you a runner?”
“Only when I’m trying to get away from monsters. You’ll have to look threatening to inspire me,” Grey suggested with a wink.
Wrinkling his nose and sticking out his tongue, Mack scowled at Grey with a fierce look, obviously trying hard to look scary. Grey held his hands up in front of himself as if he were fending off something terrifying.
Mack immediately relaxed his face and apologized. “Sorry!”
Grey walked forward and wrapped his arms around Mack, pulling him close. He kissed him hard, feeling the young man’s pulse quicken against him and knew his Little echoed the urgency that claimed them. Stroking over Mack’s suntanned torso, Grey allowed himself to bask in the joy of his instantaneous bond with Mack.
When he lifted his head, Mack stared blankly at him. His eyesight glazed, he held on to Grey for stability. Grey pushed the hair back from his face. “You’re okay, Little boy.”
“Why do I feel so safe with you?”
“Because it’s where you’re supposed to be,” Grey explained before kissing him softly once again. “Arms or legs?”
“Arms,” Mack answered without hesitation. His gaze settled on Grey’s biceps.
“Let’s go.”
CHAPTER 10
Grey’s equipment was designed to accommodate two people working out at the same time. Each chose their weights to warm up with, then worked together to challenge and support each other. Grey loved the easy banter that developed between them as well as the opportunity to watch the play of muscles in Mack’s body as the younger man moved.
When his muscles felt like noodles, Mack collapsed to the padded mat. “Tell me you’re done. I’m going to have to eat dinner like a dog. I can’t move my arms.”
“Let me run for ten minutes to burn off some calories and I’ll be set. Want to work on abs?” Grey suggested. It was easy to see from the definition on Mack’s stomach he was dedicated to his core muscles.
“Yeah! Take your time.”
Mack grabbed a hefty weight and headed for the incline board. He was in position and defying gravity to reach toward his toes as Grey stepped onto the treadmill to run. Grey tried to focus on the computer display and not pay complete attention to the display of glistening muscles behind him.
The struggle was completely unwinnable. Grey gave up and watched the show reflected in the window before him. The view of the beautiful Little pushing himself to train and refine his already amazing form trumped over the tree line. He doubted the rare view of wildlife would ever captivate him as it had in the past.
When the running program he’d selected slowed and eventually stopped, time had never gone so quickly. Grey stepped off the machine and grabbed a towel to wipe the moisture from his brow. He snagged another and walked to Mack’s side.
“Please, tell me you’re done,” Mack said, flopping back to the slant board. “I couldn’t stop until you did. I may never get up from here.”
“I’m going to spank your bottom hard, Little boy, if you’ve hurt yourself. There’s no ego here in the gym. You work out to when your muscles tell you no more.”
“I’m okay. I always train harder when there is someone else around. If I had this gym to myself, I’d look like a doughboy.” Mack puffed air into his cheeks as if he’d gained fifty pounds.
“And you’d look handsome then as well. Come on. Let me help you up.” Grey stripped the weight out of his hands and returned it to the rack. As he returned, Mack uncurled his feet from the top of the board and glided down the incline like he was sliding. Shaking his head at the Little’s antics, Grey helped him up to his feet.
“Onelia left something yummy for dinner. She said it was your favorite. I’m so hungry now, I could eat a cow,” Mack confessed.
“Shower first. Then, my favorite. I have no idea what that is. I love all her dishes,” Grey confessed as he steered Mack out of the gym and back to the large bedroom and bath. He knelt by Mack’s feet and untied his sneakers.
“Put your hand on my shoulder and lift this foot,” he requested, tapping one toe.
Mack followed his instructions, and Grey removed his socks and shoes. “Do you have slippers?”
“No. I usually go barefoot but…”
Grey filled in the rest when he hesitated. “But you didn’t want to get too comfortable here?”
“I don’t want to overstep. Joanie…”
“Is a bitch.” Grey enjoyed finishing that sentence.
“Daddy! That’s not nice.”
“Go barefoot, Little boy. Whatever makes you happy,” Grey told him as he reached up to hook his fingers into Mack's stretchy waistband and pulling down the young man’s exercise pants and underwear.
