A few moments later, the door opened, and Joey stepped in. He peeled his shirt over his head as he made his way to us. I laid back on the bed, bringing Elaina with me, and eased to the edge of the mattress, bracing my feet against the floor.

“Joey?” she asked, turning her head.

He ran his hand down her spine as he gripped his cock in his other hand. “I’m here, sweet girl.”

He lubed up his cock and gently eased himself inside her ass. Thankfully, she was still loose from the night before, and he sank in easily, her body naturally relaxing for him.

She slumped in my arms, allowing us to take over. His eyes met mine, a question lingering in his gaze. I nodded at him, letting him know it’d been rough for her, despite the front she’d put up when she came home that everything was just fine. She’d fallen apart as soon as I was inside of her.

He blew out a quiet breath and helped me piece her back together, both of us being gentle and loving.

CHAPTER FIVE

Elaina

Anxiety was a pain in the ass, and though I enjoyed spending the day with Jessie, it took me two days to recover from the outing.

Trauma had fucked me up in numerous ways. I could always count on my men to ground me and center me, but still, that didn’t make it easier to recover from the mental drainage that always happened.

But I refused to be a recluse. I refused to allow my anxiety to rule my life like that.

I smiled a little when Joey stepped up behind me and rested his hands on my hips before pressing a kiss to my bare shoulder where my oversized t-shirt had slipped down. “How are you feeling this morning, sweet girl?” he asked me.

I turned my head to face him, brushing our lips together. “Better. Did Alejandro tell you where he went?” I asked. When I’d woken up this morning, Alejandro was missing. It wasn’t abnormal for him to be up before either of us. Usually, he dealt with Antonio and kept him from waking up everyone else in the clubhouse. But Antonio was still sleeping when I got up, and Alejandro was missing, as was his personal vehicle.

“He had something to deal with and slipped out in the middle of the night,” Joey told me. “He didn’t want you to worry.”

I softly sighed. Alejandro had been doing disappearing acts more and more lately, and it was seriously beginning to worry me. “He knows I will regardless.”

Joey pressed a tender kiss to my throat. “I know, sweet girl.” Antonio came sprinting into the kitchen, and before I could reprimand him for running, Joey swooped down and lifted Antonio onto his hip, giving the troublesome boy a stern look. “What have we told you about running inside?” Joey asked him.

Antonio frowned and pouted. “I’m not supposed to,” he grumbled.

“That’s right. So don’t do it again, do I make myself clear? I know a little boy that doesn’t like time-outs.”

Antonio immediately shook his head. He hated time-outs. With one last kiss to my temple, Joey slipped from the kitchen with Antonio in his arms, leaving me to my thoughts. I loved how good Joey was with Antonio—the perfect stepdad. Though Antonio called both him and Alejandro Dad, Joey never overstepped his boundaries with Alejandro.

He made sure Antonio knew who his biological father was, and I respected Joey so much for that.

I wanted so badly to give Joey a child of his own—I knew he was beginning to yearn for it. But I didn’t know how to bring the subject up to him.

Sighing, I focused back on making breakfast for everyone, wishing Alejandro was here. Talking to him about it would help me figure out how to broach the subject. But Alejandro was always so busy, and when he wasn’t, he was normally around Joey, which prevented me from being able to talk to him without alerting Joey.

Looking out the window, I frowned.

Please be safe and make it back home to me unscathed, Alejandro.

Alejandro

I was fucking exhausted.

Getting a call in the middle of the night that three of my men had been brutally attacked and killed wasn’t the fucking news I’d been wanting when my second-in-command called me. But it had to be dealt with. And I was hoping I could nip this in the bud before it got worse, but I doubted it would be resolved that easily.

Nothing was ever resolved easily in my world.

With power came problems. And I had a lot of power. So problems were constantly coming at me in every direction I turned. Which was why I had to leave in the middle of the night to prepare the three men for burial and set up higher security, as well as see if I could hunt down the group’s last camp. They were working out of the desert, which made it harder to sniff them out.
