“And the same is true for smart women and the perfect guy,” I added with a smile.

“Not so sure how many brain cells Harlowe has left if she thinks the old man is perfect,” Dom teased from the safety that came from being across the room. He lifted a bottle of beer into the air. “But I still think Link picked a damn good woman for his old lady. Congrats!”

Everyone echoed his good wishes, coming over to slap Link on the back and give me a hug. Or at least they tried, but it was difficult to get their arms around me when Link pulled my back against his chest and held me close.

“Now that you’ve publicly staked your claim on Harlowe, do you want to bring your old lady”—Scout sniggered at the term, presumably because of how much younger than Link I was—“to the shooting range to give her a lesson on how to handle a gun?”

Loving how it had turned Link on so much that we hadn’t even made it back to his room when he found out I was good with motorcycles, I nodded eagerly. I couldn’t wait to see how he reacted to me handling a gun like a pro.

“Here, angel. This is a .22 pistol. It doesn’t have much kickback, making it a good gun for learning.” I handed her the weapon and showed her how to use the safety. Then I grabbed a box of ammo and my own, much more powerful, Smith and Wesson.

We walked outside and over to the area where tables were set up in relation to each target. The outdoor range was empty, so I thought it would make Harlowe a little more comfortable. Of course, Scout was being a pain in the ass and followed right behind us.

After setting everything down, I worked with Harlowe on her stance and instructions for aiming and firing. She picked it up fast, and I had a feeling she would be good enough to at least protect herself pretty quickly.

While I was standing behind her, guiding her arms, she wiggled her sexy little ass, rubbing it over my cock, which was already semi-hard from seeing my girl with a gun in her hand. “You’re gonna earn yourself a spanking if you don’t cut that out, Harlowe,” I growled.

Harlowe snickered and turned her head to whisper, “Not really a threat if it gets me even hotter, babe.”

“Fuck,” I grunted. It was tempting to drag her back to our room and make good on the threat, but I reminded myself of what I’d been ignoring for way too long. My girl was in danger and learning to shoot would be one more layer of protection for her. “Later, angel,” I promised in a low tone.

She sighed long and dramatic—making me chuckle—before turning her focus back to the matter at hand.

“If you get tired of being sexually harassed by your instructor, pinkie,” Scout piped up from the next table, “I’d be more than happy to take over.” He had a smug grin on his face as he watched me rather than Harlowe. I knew he was needling me for a reaction, but even being aware of it didn’t stop me from giving him a death stare.

“Pinkie?” Harlowe asked.

Scout stepped closer and reached out to tug on one of the pink streaks in her hair. “I get the feeling these are your own way of showing your inner sass on the outside.”

I shoved his arm away and snarled, “No touching.” If I gave a fuck, I’d probably be examining when I turned into such a caveman. But I had no fucks to give. I didn’t like anyone touching my woman except me.

My brother smirked and held up his hands. “No problem”—he looked at Harlowe and winked—“my offer stands, though.”

Harlowe shook her head, calming me so I didn’t feel quite so much like beating the shit out of Scout. “Link’s a fantastic teacher. Pretty sure he’s already taught me everything I need to know to be a crack shot.”

I chuckled and shook my head as I reluctantly released her and stepped away. “I appreciate the confidence, angel, but unfortunately, it’s gonna take a lot more than this one lesson. So don’t get discouraged if you don’t get the hang of it right away.”

She shrugged as she took the weapon I’d loaded for her. “Okay. But I still think you’ve taught me everything I need to know.”

Knowing she was joking, I didn’t bother to reply, though I smiled and gave her a wink. “Get into your stance, angel.” I pointed at the target, a silhouette of the top half of a body. “Right now, just try to hit the paper anywhere. Don’t be surprised if you miss it the first several rounds because aiming takes a lot of practice. You seem like a natural, though. I’m willing to bet you’ll be able to at least nick the target after a few shots.” Harlowe nodded and shifted into the stance I’d shown her.
