The ever efficient Grant delivers and soon Paisley’s husky voice is filling up my office. “Maddox Castile, to what do I owe this honor? Am I getting an invitation to your wedding?”
“Sure. You can even have a building I own if you tell me what bar my fiancée is in.”
Paisley laughs. And laughs. And laughs. She laughs so long and so loud, I seriously contemplate sending an ambulance to her. Finally, the screams of merriment stop long enough for her to say, “Oh, Maddox Castile. No wonder you’re getting married to this girl. She’s sent you on a goose chase. I adore her already. I’m sorry, though, I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
She cuts the connection. Maddox stares at his phone in dumbfounded confusion before immediately hitting redial.
“Grant, get Paisley on the phone again.”
“I don’t think I can,” Grant replies.
“Why the hell not?”
“Because she texted me and said that she wouldn’t be answering her phone until tomorrow morning but she looked forward to her wedding invitation,” Grant answers, his tone full of misery. He hates failing.
Maddox growls and brings his fist down. The pink phone bounces up. I snatch it out of the air with one hand and toss it onto the chocolate brown sofa that Savannah said I had to have in my office.
“Calm down, Rocket Man,” I tell my little brother, who looks angry enough that I worry his head might pop off. Although, if I looked in the mirror, maybe I’d have that same red-faced fury on my face too. I want to know where MJ is and I want to know now. I pick up the phone and dial Tony. She answers huffily on the fifth ring.
“I’m busy,” she snaps into the phone.
Without preamble, I snap, “What’s the hottest club in town that is owned by Paisley Brown?”
“What?”
“What is the hottest—”
“I heard you the first time. How would I know?”
“Because your wife is literally the biggest supermodel in town?”
“Oh right,” Tony sighs. I hear her mumble something away from the receiver. Another high-pitched voice answers her but I can’t make out what either of them are saying. Tony finally returns. “Paisley opened a club downtown called ‘The Cage’ and…” There’s a long pause.
“What?”
“What is it?” Madd looms over me.
I push him aside. “What?” I repeat.
“You’re not going to like this.”
“Tell me!” I order.
“It’s called The Cage because male performers dance in the cages and they aren’t wearing a lot of clothes.”
I nearly break the phone in my hand. “Men? Dancing? Why would they go to something like this?”
“I don’t know,” Tony replies in an annoyed voice. “I’m a lesbian. That shit doesn’t interest me. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m busy with my wife, the hottest supermodel in town. You’re welcome.” She hangs up on me.
Maddox is nearly ready to explode. I grab my gun and holster it.
“What the fuck is going on?” my brother cries.
“The girls are at a high end strip joint.”
“I’m going to murder Savannah,” he declares.
“Not if I get to her first.”
Chapter 15

The limo ride is a mini bachelorette party in itself. I’ve never seen Luna look so happy in my life. Sure, we’ve had a lot of good times together but this is different. She is glowing from head to toe. She looks relaxed. Not a worry in the world. I’m pretty sure Maddox gave her that. She was always too worried about what she was going to do with her life. I think Maddox has settled that issue for her easily enough.
The limo finally pulls up in front of what looks like a club. One I’ve never seen or heard of. Before I can think twice about it, the driver is opening the door and helping us out. Even the outside of this place screams high end. A line of people waiting to get in stretches down the long city block. Savannah steers us toward the entrance, not glancing at the line.
“Hey, Aaron. How’s it going tonight?” Savannah’s hips sway as she walks toward the man in an all-black suit. It looks too nice for him to be a bouncer or doorman but the place screams money. For all I know it could be their uniform or dress code they have to abide by.
“Busy as usual, Sav.” His eyes roam up and down her. “It’s good to see you. You look beautiful as always.” I watch as Savannah’s cheeks pinken a bit at his compliment.
“Thanks.” She tucks a piece of her dark auburn hair behind her ear. “I have a reservation tonight. These are my future sister-in-laws, Luna and MJ.” She steps to the side, introducing us. Aaron holds his hand out for us to take but he keeps his eyes on Savannah as he does it.
“Paisley informed me a few minutes ago you were coming. Why else would I be standing out here, Savannah?” Oh shit. My eyes bounce between the two of them. Savannah’s mouth parts into a perfect O shape. The sneaky girl I met fades away as I watch her turn into a blushing schoolgirl. Thank God I’m not the only one that happens to.
