My body went lax, melted into the damn bed. I trembled from the power of my orgasm but, as good as it felt, my head was still swimming—it was out to sea, drowning with no land in sight. My chest still felt like there was too much weight on it, only now there was even more.

I’d just come while watching a Daddy order his boy around…and I’d answered him. Spoken to him as though he’d been ordering me around. I’d never experimented with BDSM, kink or anything like that. Not once…never wanted to…and I wasn’t sure how I felt about what had just happened.

I wasn’t sure how I felt about the fact that it didn’t feel like enough. That somewhere deep inside me, a need began clawing to the surface that said I wanted more.

CHAPTER TWO

I didn’t sleep well that night. As I got ready for work the next morning, I fell a little behind, which made me slightly shaky and nervous because I fucking hated to be late for work. Work was the one place where I was in my element so even something as small as running late put me on edge, made me feel as though I was failing.

Last night continued to tease at the edges of my brain but I fought it off. It had been a fluke. Something fun. It definitely wasn’t something I really wanted or planned to do again.

I hurriedly pushed the key in the knob to lock up. As I did, there was a creaking sound to the left, which I knew was my neighbor’s door. It had been making that sound ever since he’d moved in a few months ago. He needed to get it fixed.

“Shit,” I cursed before fumbling my keys and then kneeling to pick them up.

“Good morning, Jared. I hope I didn’t startle you,” came in a smooth, steady voice from above me.

My brows pulled together as I gazed up at him from where I kneeled at his feet. He looked as though he was older than my thirty-three years—maybe his early to mid-forties. He had light blond hair and a strong, sharp jawline, which made him look almost regal. His eyes were the bluest I’d ever seen. So clear and vibrant, they looked like they weren’t real.

He’d also rarely spoken to me since he moved in. I was surprised he remembered my name. I didn’t remember his, but I knew he was some kind of doctor. “It’s fine…I’m just a little late,” I said. He smiled down at me, which made me realize I was still kneeling. Why the fuck hadn’t I stood up? Last night pulled at my attention again…being on my knees for someone…calling them Daddy…listening to what they said…

“Here.” My squeaky-doored neighbor held his hand out to me. “Let me help you.”

Help me up? Did he think I was fucking helpless? “It’s fine,” I told him. “But I appreciate the offer,” I added because it was important to me that I was polite.

“It’s okay to need a hand, you know?” he replied, his ice-blue eyes snagging mine and holding on. They were addictive and I couldn’t turn away.

“I know.”

“Do you?” he questioned.

Okay…this was odd. He was being slightly creepy right now. “Of course,” I answered before adding quickly, “I should go.”

“I’ll walk with you,” he said as we started down the hallway toward the elevator.

As we went, my stomach growled. He glanced at me and I could tell he’d heard it.

When we got there, he pushed the button. We were silent as we waited. The doors slid open with their usual chime.

“You first,” he told me, so I stepped inside. He followed and the doors closed. My neighbor pushed the ground floor button and then asked, “Do you remember my name?”

Shit. This made me look like an ass. “I’m sorry. I don’t.”

He just chuckled and I found the sound rather soothing. It was an honest laugh. I didn’t think most people laughed honestly.

“Kieran MacAuley.”

Ah, that explained the fair skin, hair and eyes. He was obviously Irish. “Jared Reynolds.”

“I know,” he replied and an unexplained shot of guilt slid through me. I felt like I should have remembered his name since he knew mine. He stared at me and me at him. It was as if I couldn’t look away from him but I sure as shit didn’t know why. Yes, he was a beautiful man, but I saw beautiful men every day. He was no different. At least he shouldn’t be.

Just then the elevator dinged open. Finally, I forced myself to break eye contact but before I stepped out, Kieran’s hand shot forward to hold the door open and his voice stopped me. “Jared?”

I turned, and looked at him, even though part of me wanted to hurry away. Not from him. I had no reason to want to run from him, I didn’t think, but I did need to get to work. “Yes?”
