This was their house. On their bed. In their city.
His curse was broken. They were free to be together. Everything in the entire world felt right in that moment. There was so much left for them to endure. The election was still impending, and Kerrigan was determined to take down the Red Masks. But she couldn’t think of any of that right now. Just the future that she had been so uncertain she would ever entertain.
She climaxed with a shuddering breath to a smirking Fae king. He grasped her legs and tugged her down farther on the bed. She gasped, but already, he was stripping. Any words she had left were gone as he dropped his suit coat to the floor, pulled free the cravat at his throat, and bared the hard planes of his chest. She leaned forward and ran a hand down every line of his abdominal. Each etched, as if into marble. His pants went next as well as his underthings, and then he was all male, naked as the day he had been born. Her breath caught at his magnificence.
He helped her out of her dress. Undoing the clasps at the back that held it all together before letting it puddle into a heap on the floor.
She was mad with need by the time her breasts were free of the binding and she was naked with him. She wanted nothing more than to complete what they had started, but he had another idea.
With her legs on either side of his muscled thighs and him hard and thick before her, his fingers threaded into her hair and removed each individual pin. As they slid out of place, the locks that they had contained spilled over her shoulders and down her back. Until there was nothing left holding it all up.
He brushed strands out of her eyes and claimed her mouth once more for his own. “That’s better. This is how I love to see you.”
“How’s that?”
“Wild,” he breathed.
Her fingers reached out almost tentatively for him. She wrapped her hand around him, and he grunted with relief at the first touch. He thrust forward into her fingers, starting a tempo as she moved up and down.
“Is it my turn?” she whispered in the silence.
They’d never had the time before, but she was just as interested in exploring his body as he had hers.
“Next time,” he groaned, spreading her legs wider and pulling her forward until her bottom almost hung off the edge of the bed. “I need you.”
“Yes,” she pleaded.
She aligned their bodies, guiding him into her. The first joining was pure bliss. Her body arched off the bed. Nothing compared to this. Not their first rushed time in the hot springs or the stolen moments in Titania’s cottage. His curse was broken. They were free to be together. This was their first time with no barriers between them. And she would savor every moment.
He took her hips in his hands and increased the tempo. Their bodies smacked together over and over as the heat between them intensified. Sweat beaded on her body. The summer humidity doing nothing to cool their coupling.
Kerrigan reached for him. He leaned down on his elbows to kiss down her front. She arched into him as he drew a nipple into his mouth. She felt her body close to the edge, and that extra sensation made everything come fully alive.
“Fordham,” she gasped.
He drew the other nipple into his mouth, sucking and nipping at it. He smirked up at her again and then drew their lips together. His pace quickened, and she clawed at his back.
This was magic. Old magic. Something she had never experienced before. A fusing together of two souls, as if everything had just clicked into place. She was superheated and couldn’t breathe, and her heart raced.
“Oh gods,” she moaned.
“Yes,” he said against her skin. His eyes had gone wide. “It’s you.”
“It’s always been you,” she told him.
Then, she felt something snap together. As if two pieces of the same invisible string had become one. And the rest of the world disappeared as they both fell into eternity.
It was a few minutes before either of them could move. Kerrigan wiped sweat from her brow as Fordham rolled off of her and onto the big bed.
“What just happened?” she whispered.
“A … bond.” He looked wild with disbelief. “It felt almost like what happened with the dragon bond. Except … there is no way we could be bonded.”
“I couldn’t even bond with Tieran.”
“I know,” he breathed.
Then, she met his gaze and felt all the love radiating off of him, and suddenly, she knew. She just knew.
“I’ve heard of this, but it’s an old custom with dragons, where soul mates are joined. They call it a mating bond.”
His eyes were filled to the brim with devotion as he pulled her into him.
