“No! You’re stunning,” I say, looking her up and down. She's only three months pregnant, and her hormones have been all over the place, but I do my best to reassure her that she's beautiful because it’s the truth. “You're my wife, and soon you're going to be the mother of my child. There's nothing in this world that's more attractive to me than that.”
I lean down and kiss her again. This time, she's more receptive to it. She wraps her arms around my neck and moans as our tongues collide. My phone buzzes in my pocket again, and I try to ignore it, focusing on kissing Grace. It buzzes again, and I reluctantly sit up with a sigh.
“I’m gonna throw my phone into the mountains,” I say to my agent. Grace laughs under me, sitting up and straightening her clothes.
“You're going to regret that because I have some exciting news for you,” he says, laughing to himself. “You know that other book you pitched to me? I've been shopping around with a few publishers, and I've got a deal being sent over to me tomorrow.”
I smile at Grace, and she immediately knows what's happening. My agent gives me the details about the publisher and the deal he's expecting, but all I can think about is how badly I want to celebrate with my wife. The book is, after all, inspired entirely by her.
She climbs on top of me while both of us eagerly celebrate the exciting news.
EXTENDED EPILOGUE
GRACE
Five Years Later
Isit in the tall chair the production crew brought out for me, watching the director give the main actor some points. Gabriel is a few feet away, schmoozing with one of the producers of the film.
“You have her to thank for this, really,” Gabriel says, pointing to me with a smile on his face.
The producer turns around and waves at me, smiling at the notion that Gabriel keeps crediting all of the success from his last book to me. After everything that happened when we met, he was extremely inspired to write about our relationship. His book, Two Hearts, was entirely based on how we fell in love and the obstacles we faced, though it was, of course, dramatized for entertainment purposes.
My entire life with him is a dream come true.
Married with three wonderful children and a plan on having another one soon. Gabriel's career had taken off even more than it was before we met. He published three best-selling novels, two of them currently in production to be turned into films. It truly feels like my life is a dream.
The producer leads Gabriel away from me to show him something on set. I watch from the corner of my eyes as the actress who was cast to play me, someone younger and more attractive, makes her way over to Gabriel to talk to him. She tosses her hair to the side and laughs at everything he says, but through all of that, his eyes find me.
After a few minutes, he walks away from them both, and I see her following him as he walks away from her.
“Leaving your new girlfriend?” I say with a smug smile as he sits in the chair next to me.
“She really has nothing on you,” he laughs, leaning over to kiss me. “You're the only woman that's really ever turned my head.”
I smile and laugh, knowing it's the truth. We've been together for five years, and I've never had to worry about him not being attracted to me. In fact, even after all these years and having children with him, it feels like he's still too attracted to me at times. Friends of ours will complain about how their sex lives have completely died off after having kids, and ours is better than ever.
“What do you think about sneaking into the trailer for a few minutes?” he leans in and asks me, kissing my ear gently.
“Gabriel!” I laugh, shaking my head. “What if they need you for a re-write?”
He shrugs his shoulders and looks around, seeing that there isn't an active scene being filmed at the moment. “I think we have at least twenty minutes before they'll need me.”
I bite my lip and look around, feeling like it's a bad decision considering where we are, but I'm just as tempted as he is. “Okay, but we should be quiet.”
Gabriel nods in agreement, and we walk off together, rushing to the trailer before anyone can see us, once again finding ourselves sneaking around.
The End.
