“Got that right,” Amelia says. “I feel flushed.”

“I feel hot,” Jaylin murmurs. “Where is my husband?”

“For real. Where is mine?” Aviva asks, and I laugh at them as I push off the table, setting down my beer and going right for her. Her eyes darken with each step I take, and I run my hand over my mouth to hide my ridiculously happy grin as my body vibrates with desire for her.

She came alone. For me.

But then he steps into my view, and I stop midstep.

Gone is the desire, replaced by pure rage.

“Ah! Retreat, Dart! Retreat!” Angie calls to me, and my shoulders fall as Dickface guides her to the left. She looks over her shoulder at me, an apology in her eyes, but it’s not enough.

What. The. Fuck.

I watch her, my heart pounding in my chest for what seems like days, when it’s really only seconds. I try to find my composure, but it’s hard when I want to lose my fucking mind. I turn, heading back to the wives before snatching my beer and downing the rest of it. No one speaks to me, and I’m thankful for that. I stand there, watching her like she’s the puck and I have to steal it away from that fucker with her.

My body coils and burns as I watch that asshole press his hand into the small of her back. She tries to step away, but he keeps touching her like she’s his. I know the truth, she knows the truth—fuck, he knows the truth—but he tries. I drink another beer, the anger too much that I need to drown it.

But then I’m unable to control myself. I take out my phone and text her.

Me: I’m starting to get pissed, baby doll.

I look to where she stands beside him. He still has his hand at the small of her back as she smiles up at a baseball player. I see her glance at her watch, and her brows come in. She looks up at me, and her eyes darken. She holds up a finger to the baseball player and smiles in apology. Then she steps back with her phone in her hand, much to Dickface’s protest. He gives her a look that almost results in my cracking my fist into his nose. Like he’s appalled she’d answer her phone. Fuck him. He doesn’t need to look at her like that; she does whatever she wants.

As long as it’s with me.

I look down just as her text comes through.

The Only Ten You’ll Ever See: Relax.

Me: Fuck that. Don’t let him touch you.

The Only Ten You’ll Ever See: Even if you weren’t staring at me, I wouldn’t want him to touch me. Give me a second.

Me: No. Blow him off. I can tell you don’t even want to be near him.

The Only Ten You’ll Ever See: I don’t, but I’m working. Relax.

Me: I can’t relax when he’s touching you.

The Only Ten You’ll Ever See: It’s nothing, I promise. Give me a second.

Me: One.

Her eyes narrow as she glares at me. I know I’m acting like a child, but she is making me act like this. She’s driving me fucking crazy.

Me: I’m dying. Lose him, Tennessee. End my misery. Is it him or me?

Her eyes meet mine again, and she blows out a breath, her eyes pleading with mine. She looks back down at her phone, and I do the same as her next texts come through.

The Only Ten You’ll Ever See: There is no choice, D’Artagnan.

The Only Ten You’ll Ever See: I may be standing beside him at this party, WORKING, but I’ll be leaving with you.

The Only Ten You’ll Ever See: I can promise you that.

I look up just as she tucks her phone into her purse, ending our conversation and leaving me shifting to relieve the ache in my pants.

That second turns into minutes, and I’m getting madder with every one that passes.

“What’d she say?” Angie asks, and I cut my gaze to her.

“Mind your business. You just want the gossip,” I tease, and she grins just as Amelia starts smacking her on the arm.

“I do. What?” she asks Amelia. I watch as Angie turns her head to where Amelia is looking, and then a wide grin spreads over her face. I look in the same direction, and my eyes are instantly captured by Tennessee’s. Hers are hooded, dark, and set on just me as she closes the distance between us. I fall under her spell as I watch her hips sway back and forth, showing me a peek of her upper thigh with every step, and once more, everything fades away.

She stops before me, her head tipping back just a bit as she looks deep into my eyes. Even with the chill in the fall air, I’m burning up as I gaze down at her beautiful face. “I broke up with him.”
