“Okay, no cooked spinach. Broccoli? Green beans? Brussels sprouts?”

“Those are all good. Can we have chocolate for dessert?”

“You really do like chocolate, don’t you, Bumblebee?”

“Yes, especially those cupcakes. Maybe we could get them again sometimes.”

“I’ll pick some up tomorrow, and we’ll have them for dessert,” he assured her.

“Can we eat them before dinner again?”

He couldn’t stop smiling as he shook his head. “Nope. This was a special treat. We’ll save desserts for after our meals most days.”

She groaned dramatically. “That’s no fun.”

“Maybe sometimes we can switch them. We’ll see.”

“Let me guess. Daddy decides.” She rolled her eyes.

“Always.” He pulled her closer and kissed her briefly. “Now, how about if I drive you back to your car and then follow you home so I’ll know you’re safe.”

“Are you going to come inside?” she asked, fidgeting.

“Do you want me to come inside?”

She shrugged and pretended to pluck a nonexistent piece of lint from her black pants. “I was just curious.”

“What are you curious about, Bumblebee? Ask me.”

“Are we going to have sex?” She bit her lip a second after blurting out the question.

“Not tonight, Little one. We need to get to know each other better. But I’d love it if you let me get you ready for bed and give you a goodnight kiss.” He slid his hand up into her hair and eased his fingers through the silky tresses.

“I’d like that too, Daddy.”

Chapter Six

Kiki almost couldn’t believe this was happening. It was too good to be true. After years of wishing for a Daddy, she seemed to finally have one. Even though she’d sabotaged things more than once, he still liked her.

And he’s going to come into my apartment now, she reminded herself as she parked near her building.

True to his word, Terry had driven her back to her car and followed her home. As he parked in the spot next to hers, she exited her car. This was a huge step. She never brought men home. Then again, who was she kidding? She never dated anyone either.

It had been several years since she’d been on an actual date, mostly because she’d been well aware she was Little for several years, and she had no interest in vanilla relationships. Her only hope was eventually meeting a Daddy at a club.

The last few days felt like a whirlwind. She still couldn’t believe it. She was about to let this man into her private space where no one was usually permitted entrance.

“You okay, Bumblebee?” Terry asked as he rounded the hood of his SUV. His brow was furrowed.

Kiki realized she hadn’t moved. She was still next to her car, and she had her arms crossed, rubbing her biceps. She nodded. “I’m fine.”

He came to her and set his hands on her shoulders. “I’d really like to see where you live, Bumblebee, but if it’s too fast for you, I’ll give you a kiss goodnight at your door and leave.”

She wanted to be brave, so she shook her head. “No. I want you to come inside. It’s just that it’s a big step for me, and I’m… Well, Little. My place reflects that. I don’t usually have visitors.”

He smiled. “I know you’re Little, Kiki. I would expect your home to reflect that. I can’t wait to see it.”

“Does your home reflect that you’re a Daddy?” she asked.

“Not entirely. But it will by the time you come over tomorrow night.” He winked at her. “I think it’s time for me to redecorate. Make some additions.”

“It’s a bit messy.”

“That’s okay, Bumblebee. Can you be brave for me and invite me in?” Terry opened his arms in a silent invitation.

Kiki bolted forward to press herself against his firm body. She exhaled with a gust of relief as his heat enveloped her and he rubbed the length of her spine. “It’s so scary being vulnerable.”

“I will promise you I’ll try my best to never hurt you. Daddies sometimes make mistakes. I’m counting on you to be honest and open about your feelings even if it’s frightening.”

“That’s a lot,” she hedged, burying her face against his hard chest.

“I know.”

“Do you promise to do the same? Do Daddies get scared?” she asked.

“They do—or at least, I do. Any time you find something so vitally important to you…”

“I’m important to you?” Kiki asked, peeking up at him.

“You are extremely important to me,” Terry promised her. “Now, it’s time for you to be in bed. Let’s go inside.”

“Okay.”

He guided her up the stairs to the front door and quietly watched her fumble to fit her key in the hole. Kiki liked that he didn’t take over but let her wrangle with the familiar task. At last, she was able to slide it into the slot and turn the handle.

Pushing the door open, she called, “Lights, please.”

As the room illuminated, Kiki turned to watch his reaction to the hundreds of fairy lights that brightened the space. A slow smile spread his delectable lips as he looked around at the ethereal living room.
