How can I be feeling colour? I don’t know but somehow I am.
Tristan buried his teeth in her throat again and thrust hard once, twice, she pulled him closer by his hair and then he stilled.
He trailed sweet soft kisses along her throat.
She lifted his hand and looked at his palm, which had zero signs of being opened up.
“That was beautiful,” she told him, tears in her eyes, and then she tenderly kissed his palm.
“So beautiful,” he agreed, caressed her cheek, and pulled her up off the floor. He looked at the bed, surveying the damage.
“We cracked the bedframe. But should be an easy fix.”
She giggled, “Aren’t we the rudest houseguests? Breaking furniture with our fucking…”
He snickered.
She started to get her pants back on and fixed her bra and tank.
She looked around and felt giddy. He got his pants done up and she jumped up and threw her arms around him, her legs around his waist, “That was fanfuckingtastic, Tristan. Oh my God!”
He smiled huge.
“I mean like seriously! Does my blood taste like that? Does it make you feel like this? Holy fucking moly!”
He gave her a squeeze on the bottom and kissed her lips, “Probably. I feel how much you like it and I gotta say, I like how much you like it.”
She let out a little growl and playfully bit his throat, not breaking skin, “God I wish I had fangs, too.” She sucked on his throat hard. He walked to the long chest of drawers and sat her on it.
“Lemme get Sam in here and fix this bed. Then I gotta make a couple calls.”
“Okay, I wanna take a bath. Shave my legs and my hoo-ha. Maybe visit with Kyle for a bit again. When are we leaving?”
“I’ll arrange for tomorrow morning.”
She nodded.
She was full of energy. She was having trouble sitting still. She didn’t know what to do with all the energy. She wanted to do cartwheels and backflips. She felt like she could climb Mount Everest, walk on water. She swung her legs, heels bouncing against the chest of drawers. She felt joy bubble up as she had a thought,
Now he’s my all-I-can-eat-and-fuck buffet. And next time I’m going to rip his clothes to shreds, too.
She giggled.
Tristan opened the door and called down the hall for Sam and then looked back over his shoulder at her and smirked, seeming quite amused with her behaviour.
“Sam? Grab a toolbox and gimme a hand?”
“What’d ya do?” she heard Sam.
“Bed frame cracked,” Tristan mumbled.
“Ha!” Sam laughed loud and poked his head in. He arched one brow high up and gave her a smirk.
Kyla felt the heat rise in her face and knew her face was red. Sam’s eyes landed on her. “Ha!” he repeated and then backed out.
She hopped off the dresser and stood aside while Tristan and Sam took a look at the bed frame. Then she grabbed some clean clothes and toiletries and signaled to the hallway as she passed Tristan. He stopped her by catching her elbow, “Kiss me.”
She did, with a big smile, spotting a hickie on his neck. She chuckled and kind of skipped along to the bathroom.

She spent more time at Kyle’s bedside that day, reading to him. Tristan stayed nearby, talking to Sasha and Sam in Sasha’s office. She and Tristan later took a canoe out together and rowed out a ways away from the shore and they had a nice afternoon, a quiet one out on the water, just relaxing with the peaceful scenery, barely talking, just enjoying the day and being together.
When they got back, Sam announced he’d caught enough fish for dinner and said they’d be having a campfire with some others from the island that night. Kyla was interested in that but Tristan gave her a firm shake of his head, meaning no.
“I haven’t met anyone else in this coalition yet. The fewer people that know we’re here, the better. For now. While I investigate all of this.”
“But getting to know them might give you some more insight?” she suggested.
He shook his head, “Not ready to have you around other vampires right now. Not remotely.”
She understood and more than that, she felt the absolute utter no emanating from him at that idea. She felt like his eyes alone were a protective shroud around her.
She thought maybe it’d be a bit different here, if they were all ‘good guy’ vampires but Tristan wasn’t convinced yet, was still sussing things out, and said that he didn’t want to have to patch them all and then program them to ensure that they were all capable of being around her.
Programming might be enough on its own but programming plus patching was the only way that he felt safe enough but that would only solve the problem as long as the patches lasted. Sasha was going to get supplies to make more; Tristan had gotten her information about Adrian’s recipe for them.
