My groan only made him more delighted. “Yep, I see cages and control in your future, pup.”

Had I mentioned that he was a pain in the ass?

“Not unless you find a way to describe our relationship that doesn’t have the word friend in it.” If I hadn’t been so frustrated, the words would’ve been harder, but he made it easier that time.

Chuckling, he pulled me back just far enough to make sure he could see my face but not far enough to dislodge the fort. “Partner?”

Really?

“Are you sure? You’re not supposed to give me what I want just because I pitch a fit.” He might not be thinking of that when he was still so worked up.

Shaking his head, he looked like he wanted to roll his eyes. “I’ll figure out a punishment for that fit later. This is for me as well as you. I can’t have someone coming in and sweeping my pup off his feet. What if you find Mr. Right and he wants you to move in with him? I can’t afford this place on my own.”

Pain in the ass.

But he was a pain in the ass whose lips were getting closer.

Chapter 18

Leif

We were going to work on his belief that somehow I could read his mind if I had to do a PowerPoint presentation for it.

But that could wait until later.

Much later.

For the moment, I wanted to make sure he understood just how serious I was but I also wanted to give him a chance to change his mind.

Nothing yet.

Getting closer to his lips didn’t make him panic either. He sucked in a breath but his lips parted invitingly and his eyes got wide like he wasn’t sure he believed what he was seeing. But no safewords. The blanket was still in place. He hadn’t moved away from me.

I brushed my lips against his.

The low, breathy moan that escaped as he leaned into me said we were still good, so I deepened the kiss, nibbling on his lower lip and taking advantage of the way he gasped to stroke my tongue against his.

That got the most beautiful moan from him and he started rocking against me, rubbing his thigh against my dick. Now I was the one moaning and for some reason that made him giggle as I finally released his lips. “Okay, I see what you mean about sounds.”

He was such a dork.

“That’s all you have to say?” Pretending to glare at him got another cheeky grin from the frustrating man. “Just you get why I like sounds?”

Nodding, he tried to wiggle closer, only to look down and realize he was still trapped in his pants. Yep, his brain had been just as foggy as I’d thought it’d been. “Yes. But I’m stuck.”

Since that seemed to take precedence over everything else at the moment, I focused on that problem. “Pants on or off? Briefs?”

Cocking his head, Ender studied them like he’d just seen clothes for the first time. “Should I be clothed?”

He asked the most interesting questions.

“No.” Luckily for him, I liked interesting questions. “Let’s get you naked.”

That was definitely a much better sign for how our discussion would go, so I pushed off his pants and he helped with his underwear since they were bunched around his knees and probably cutting off circulation.

When he was half-dressed and his pants were on the floor, I started working on his shirt, making sure not to dislodge our fort. “There we go.”

The blanket kept him warm enough that I wasn’t worried about him getting cold but I snuggled him closer anyway and made sure he was as covered as I could get him. “Better.”

He smiled bashfully, curling back against me and resting his head on my shoulder as he snuggled into a ball on my lap. “Yes. Better.”

So he liked being naked when I was clothed?

He liked feeling submissive, maybe?

He’d been trapped and being free was better?

Pushing the thoughts to the back of my mind, I kissed his cheek and relaxed back against the couch as we snuggled. “Now, I’m sure you just haven’t realized this, but you never actually said you agreed to the label of partner. You asked me if I was sure and we kissed but that’s it.”

I just huffed and waited when he snickered.

It took him a few seconds to stop giggling and collect his thoughts, but when he kissed my neck and started petting my chest, I decided there wasn’t anything to worry about yet.

Later there’d be lots to worry about, but at the moment, we seemed to be good.

“Yes, I like partner and I think that’s a good description.” With that out in the open, he huffed and tried to sound offended. “But while were discussing past partners and things, I wasn’t the only one sending the wrong signals while dating. You either dated sex kitten types or were completely celibate. I started wondering if you were asexual.”
