The men were just finishing up when we got there, getting back into their trailers. Maggie who was quicker than her sister this morning saw the name on the side of the trailer and took off running with a war yell.
I love that little girl. I look at her and I can see how Sian must’ve been at that age. Plus she’s just a great kid. She always chooses my side over Sian’s unlike my parents who always sides with her.
Speaking of which, I have got to talk to dad before he gives us away. For the past week or so, he’s been treating her like spun silk and she’s starting to get suspicious. I’m not sure who hacked the doc first, him or Track, but I got the news from both at about the same time.
Funny thing is, even though they were able to confirm, I’m still not satisfied because my soon to be wife, hasn’t told me yet herself. I’m about ready to sulk about this shit.
I ask her leading questions and she evades them like a pro, something I’m going to remember when the truth finally does come to light. Her lying ass is going to get it.
Maggie had come running back around the house from the backyard where her sister and I were following after her. “Come Sian. Come see what Jace got me.” She tugged on her sister’s arm and I distracted her by picking her up and twirling her around.
Sian’s nosy ass walked ahead of us. “You got her a pony?”
“She wanted one.”
“Jace, my dad refused to get her one.”
“Yeah, because he had no place to put it. Now she does. There’s a stable out back and I used up about a quarter acre of your backyard for a corral.”
I put the kid down so she could go stare at her pony and wrapped my arm around my baby’s neck.
“Jace, you can’t just go around doing stuff like this.” Who says?
“Two things, one, she lost her home as well. She may not have been here that night but don’t fool yourself that she’s not bothered by that shit. And two, she can’t go on our trip with us, so this is to make up for that.”
“You spoil her.”
“She’s my little sister, I’m supposed to.” That was this morning and now we were back. I’d dirtied her up on purpose to give her an excuse to freshen up and because lately the thought of my son inside her has given me a permanent hard. Not that I needed any help in that department.

The interview went well. I can see now why she has the reputation that she does. It’s like she’s perfected the art of reading people. She knew what I was up to ten minutes after we sat down, and proceeded to ask all the right questions.
Now it was over, but it was only just the beginning.
“Jace, I don’t understand; why does the whole world need to know about us getting married?” “It’s just a Saunders thing baby.” My ass! I was sending out a message loud and clear.”
“Tomorrow’s our big day why don’t you get some rest?”
“Jace, it’s the middle of the afternoon.
“So? Are you hungry?” She stopped walking and gave me one of her suspicious glares.
“No, no I am not tired and I am not hungry. I want to go swimming.” Swimming? Was that allowed? “Gimme one minute.” Google has been my friend the last few days with this pregnancy shit.
I walked a few steps away from nosy and looked that shit up. Something else to add to the okay list. “Okay. Let’s go change into our suits.”
“What did you just do on your phone?”
“What did the doctor say?”
“Huh?”
You see, she can keep all the secrets she wants to, but that hasn’t changed shit. She hasn’t been out of my sight since she made that slip of the tongue, except for at school and I have eyes on her there.
Though more than once Track had to talk me down from running down there to get her. I’m a nervous wreck whenever she’s more than ten feet away. But I refuse to tell her that I know until she tells me first so we keep playing this game.
When she finally caught on to what I said she flounced her miserable ass off towards the house. “Sian.”
“What?”
“Walk properly please.” She did one of those growl scream things that she likes to do but she remembered to walk like she was pregnant.

I hope this works, Jace said it would. He had everything all planned out and it sounded really good when we spent a whole afternoon discussing it in our new classroom, but now I’m not so sure.
I’m having a hard time understanding my new brother in law. The guy’s an enigma with too many sides to count. Now that his friends had planted the seeds it was easy to see the many differing aspects of him.
