We both woke up during the early morning hours, and he kissed and fucked me in the shower. He always ensured that I had a full gourmet breakfast waiting in the dining room, and I rode to the office in a town car that was four cars ahead of his.
At work, we went our separate ways, occasionally shutting our office doors so he could devour me on whatever surface was available while everyone was out for lunch, and whenever everyone was long gone, I left first and waited for him to pick me up from the Cold Hearted Creamery.
“Well, wow.” Madison spun me around the creamery’s floor on a Wednesday. “I take back what I said about your knockoff obsessions. This dress and what you wore this morning looked more than convincing.”
“They’re not knockoffs,” I said. “Tyler bought them for me over the weekend. He made me spent over a hundred grand.”
“If you weren’t my best friend, I’d be insanely jealous. The sex must be phenomenal for him to gift you a huge shopping spree like that.”
“We’re not having sex.” I moved behind the ice bar. “We have an ‘arrangement’ where intercourse may be pursued when hormones are out of control.”
“So, you finally fucked him?”
“Yes.”
“Still as good as the first few times?”
“Better.”
“I think I am jealous then.” She smiled. “Is he picking you up from here?”
I nodded. “Once he figures out how to get away from the press. At what point do you think they’ll leave him alone?”
“Let me try to calculate that.” She took out her phone. “Hmmm. Former royal, America, super hot, so….Yeah, never.”
“You think he’ll always have to devise schedules and loopholes to live his life?”
“Probably.” She nodded. “I’m sure he’s a professional at it at this point, though. Are you going to be okay with that?”
“That has nothing to do with me.” I swallowed a spoonful of ‘All Bliss Blueberry’ before making a cup for Tyler. “That’s his life. I don’t have to deal with that part.”
“Right…Does this sex mean that you’re a couple now?”
“No, it just means that pregnancy is a lot more fun.”
“You do know that I know you down to your marrow, right?”
“Sadly so.”
“Be careful falling for him.” She patted my shoulder and motioned for me to sit down. “And give me all the dirty details.”
A Night In
Chloe
Seattle, Washington
17 weeks, 5 days pregnant
Kristin: Can I get a raincheck on our meet-up at the creamery tonight? My engineer is out sick, so I have to run the show myself. Cheers to an all-nighter. :-(
Madison: Gah! I was going to ask for the same thing. My top client came in with a bunch of her teenage daughter’s friends. You know they always overstay their welcome and dance on all my chairs.
Kristin: Don’t they pay you triple per scoop because of that, though?
Madison: You want this raincheck or not?
Kristin: LOL. Chloe, confirm when you see this, please.
Stepping out of the shower, I pulled on one of Tyler’s T-shirts and sighed as I made my way to the living room. I’d been looking forward to having a night with them all week.
I confirmed that it was canceled and set my phone down in the kitchen.
I pulled all the shades open and reveled in Seattle’s night lights, watching ferries leave surface waves across the ocean as they moved across the water.
I guess this is as close as I’ll get to going out tonight…
Grabbing a blanket, I plopped onto the couch and turned on the television.
“I thought you were hanging out with your friends.” Tyler was suddenly standing in the doorway, shirtless and in grey sweatpants. “I was looking forward to watching you leave.”
“So you can have the condo to yourself?”
“No.” He stepped closer. “So I could get a glimpse of you in one of those designer dresses you bought.”
“I was planning to wear a coat over it on my way out.”
“I would’ve pulled it off you.” He smiled.
“I almost considered going someplace alone, but my children’s father is a psycho who might lose it if I even say ‘Hello’ to another guy on the way there.”
“Good to see this level of progress from you.” He sat next to me. “You don’t have any college associates to go out with?”
“Not in this city. I went to school in Florida.”
“Florida.” He tasted the state on his tongue. “Isn’t it almost always sunny there?”
I nodded.
“Why would you ever trade that in for nonstop rain?”
“It was for publishing, something I enjoyed.” I paused as he adjusted the pillow behind my head. “I got job offers in New York, but something told me to choose the West Coast.”
He nodded, but he didn’t say anything else.
“Not that you care, but when I first looked you up, I found a rumor thread about you and your younger brother.”
“What was it?”
“A long running theory on how you and him once had a crush on the same housekeeper. Is that true?”
