“Is everything okay?” I ask when I spot the frustrated crinkle he gets between his brows when annoyed.

It is crazy that I know his frustrated crinkle better than I do his family. I haven’t exactly been avoiding them the past week and a bit, but I’ve not gone out of my way to introduce myself, either.

“Yes.” As his eyes trek the fast exit of his business companion’s sports car, he mutters, “I just loathe when men think money gives them power.” When he adjusts the cuffs on his suit and I spot droplets of blood, I wonder what I missed when I was texting Millie. “It doesn’t.”

He shuts down our conversation by instructing the driver to enter the pin for the gate. I’m not solely shocked that the digits match my birth date and month. I am astounded by the sprawling mansion set on rolling acres of turf and accessed by an impeccably long concrete driveway.

I’ve never seen another estate as grandeur as this one, and my parents have lived a lavish lifestyle. There are almost too many things to take in. Lakes, pools, and a multi-vehicle garage.

“Is that a stable?”

Matvei’s lips curl at one side before he jerks up his chin. “There is also a pig stall at the back and an archery range to its left.”

“Wow.”

His smile turns genuine. “If you think that’s impressive, wait until you see the inside.”

He slips out of the car before announcing to the driver to keep the engine running, and then bobs back in to assist me out.

I grimace when a blob of cum lands in the tiny triangle of my G-string, but it doesn’t linger for long. Not a single wrinkle indents my face when my mouth falls upon entering the monstrously large house.

Multiple sitting rooms sprout off the grand entrance hall, the master suite is bigger than my entire apartment, and they don’t have just three outside pools. They have one inside as well. It is next to the bowling alley and private movie theater.

“Whoa,” I whistle through my teeth when Matvei ends the tour in the kitchen. It is so massive, I could get lost in here.

When I say that to Matvei, he says, “At least you will have plenty of supplies.” An inane smile stretches my lips wide when he opens the pantry door and shelf after shelf of cucumber Sprite peers back at me. “If that isn’t enough, we also have this.”

The ginormous refrigerator is his next target. It has almost as much Sprite as the pantry, a handful of my favorite candy bars, and two pizza boxes from the pizzeria across from my apartment.

It is all very romantic, but he is missing one element.

“What are you going to eat? It’s almost time for me to start carb loading again.”

Lust pulses through me when his eyes immediately drop a couple of inches higher than the daring new split in my skirt, completely ignoring my inference that I’m planning for my period to arrive this month.

I’d laugh at the hungry lick he gives his lips if he didn’t appear so serious.

He truly believes I am dessert.

“This place is amazing, and the effort you put in to make our lunch date special has made me incredibly giddy, but I can’t stay long enough to suppress your appetite. Millie is great, but she didn’t promise Polina to take care of things while she’s away.”

I swoon when he instantly leaps onto my side of the fence. “Then we’ll come back tonight.”

“An early check-in and an overnight stay. No wonder the real estate guy was grumpy with you. How much extra did that cost you?”

I freeze on the spot when he answers calmly, “Forty-five million.”

I swallow my spit before I can choke on it. “Sorry. What?”

He closes my dangling jaw with his index finger before pulling a pizza box and a bottle of Sprite out of the refrigerator and guiding me toward the entrance. “Forty-five million. It was a steal when you realize how much security has gone into this place.” Since he’d have to remove his hand from my body to lock up, he kicks the front door shut instead before galloping us down the palatial front stairs. “The panic room alone set the original owners back over two million.”

“Which I’m sure they would’ve needed to visit when they got the bill.” I pull away from him, frustrating him enough for a growl to escape his lips, before shifting on my feet to face him. “Did you buy this place?”

“Yes,” he answers ever so calmly.

“For you?” I clarify, suddenly mindful he doesn’t need a panic room or a ton of security. He doesn’t have anyone hunting him. From the snippets I’ve wormed out of him the past few nights, he is the only one doing the hunting.

“No.” I wait with bated breath for him to finish. Mercifully, he doesn’t leave me hanging for long. “I bought it for us.”
