When he finally stopped…

“Fuck,” he breathed. “Just fuck.”

I snickered, the breath that left my lips causing his chest hair to fan out.

“I didn’t think I’d be a screamer,” I mused as I lay panting on his chest.

The chuckle that left him vibrated against my cheek.

“Nobody really knows what they’ll do until they find the right person,” he countered. “Not to ruin the mood, but I’ve never come that fast in my life. Not even when I was a kid.”

I patted his chest. “I’m not deluding myself in thinking that you didn’t have sex before me, darling.”

He patted my ass as he said, “Good.”

“Now,” I whispered, “take me to the shower. I don’t think I can move.”

Reason number two hundred and fifty why I was falling in love with Etienne: he didn’t hesitate to carry me to the shower. Then wash me off.

Then he let me touch his penis again.

Sadly, it got just as hard, just as fast, for a second time.

Still, I liked it.

CHAPTER 14

Sometimes it be like that. Sometimes, it don’t.

ETIENNE

The phone ringing pulled me from sleep.

“Hello?” I answered groggily.

The sleepy weight at my side, the one that’d exhausted me the night before, didn’t even stir when I rattled off a “hello.”

“Yo,” I heard Sunny, the sheriff, say into the other end of the line. “Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but caught a couple of vandals at your site right before they tried to light your almost-finished clinic on fire.”

My mouth fell open as I sat up, dislodging Matilda from my side.

“Mattie, wake up,” I shook her leg, then said into the phone, “What happened?”

“There’s a Garth and Alan Deveraux that I’ve detained at the scene,” Sunny explained. “They were in the process of pouring gasoline on all of the exposed wood on the north side of the building when I stopped by. You didn’t get any notices from your security company?”

No. No the fuck I didn’t.

How had they circumvented that?

“I’ll be there in fifteen if I can get Matilda to wake up,” I grumbled.

Before I could hear anything else from his side, I ended the call and threw my phone on the bed.

Bending over, I curled my big body over Matilda’s and buried my nose into her hair.

Inhaling deeply, I groaned.

“I can’t anymore,” she groaned. “My vagina is sore.”

I smiled and patted her ass. “Sadly, this isn’t because I want to fuck you… though I do. I just got a call from the sheriff telling me that your brothers tried to burn your clinic down.”

She sighed, flopped over, then stared at me in disgust. “They did not.”

“From what Sunny said… they did,” I confirmed.

She groaned, throwing her head back and covering her face with the bend of her arm. “I hate them. I hate them all.”

Just then, her phone started to ring.

We both ignored it, and I helped her get up and out of bed.

Last night, I’d all but unpacked all of her shit from her van into my bedroom. It looked like an exploded mess in the corner of the room.

I found that I quite liked seeing it there.

After pulling out a pair of short shorts, a t-shirt that I thought might be clean, a bra and panties, I tossed them to her. Then I grabbed some of my socks, and the sparkly red boots that I saw her wear more often than not.

They didn’t match one bit, but it didn’t matter.

She put everything on while I got dressed, used the bathroom, then brushed my teeth.

She did the same shortly after me, and we were off.

But not before hearing Hubert go off like a damn bleating horn as we peeled out of the driveway.

We both cursed and I stopped the bike in the middle of the road.

It was four in the morning.

There was no way in hell he wouldn’t wake up the entire damn neighborhood with that braying.

“We can take my van…” she suggested.

“Just go get him. We’ll shove him between us,” I suggested. “He’s small enough yet.”

And he was.

He fit perfectly between us, and enjoyed the ride if I had to say so myself.

We were pulling into the driveway of the clinic when all the police cars and commotion started to freak him out.

Getting a hoof to the groin, I could only let him go as he launched himself off the bike.

He started to run around like a lunatic, so we left him to it since he was relatively safe where he was doing it in the front yard.

Sunny, seeing the commotion as we pulled in, watched as the donkey made laps around the area with an amused eye.

“I swear to Christ,” Sunny said as we joined him at the edge of all the hysteria. “Y’all all come up with the weirdest shit I have to deal with. Seeing a donkey get off a motorcycle, though? That, I think, takes the cake.”
