As our fingers intertwined, I swore a current surged through us, connecting our souls on a deeper level.

Moni. . .you're just super horny. Relax.

I rose with his help.

When I stepped close to him, Lei leaned in close. His breath warmed against my ear.

My pulse raced.

He brushed his lips along my ear. “Are you ready for an adventure?”

“I'm ready.”

Granted, I almost added that I was also ready for some dick, but I didn't want to sound completely thirsty.

Moving his lips from my ear, Lei slowly slipped his hand from mine and placed it on the small of my back.

A delicious shiver ran up my body.

He studied me. “You work fast.”

I quirked my brows. “What do you mean?”

“Duck let us know that all of Rowe Street Mob left the bottom of the mountain.”

Thank you, Banks.

“My cousin and I had a conversation.”

Lei slipped his gaze to my breast. “Does he know about your new position?”

“He does.”

“And how did that go?”

“You and I have more to discuss in regard to Rowe Street Mob and Four Aces, but right now. . .I would rather we simply enjoy our date.”

“Me too.” And with that, he captured my lips in a searing kiss that ignited a storm of passion within me.

Groaning, his mouth melded with mine, a mixture of heat and tenderness.

His hands ventured up my bare back, tracing the delicate curve of my spine and sending electric shocks through my body.

Fuck.

I moaned softly into his mouth, unable to contain the waves of desire crashing over me.

Groaning some more, Lei deepened the kiss, his tongue seeking and then intertwining with mine in a desperate dance of lusty longing.

I could feel the raw hunger in his touch, the way his hands caressed my skin and pulled me closer.

Our bodies pressed against each other in an intimate embrace.

The warmth of his skin against mine was intoxicating.

He ended the kiss and trailed his lips along my jawline, peppering kisses along the way and leaving a trail of fire in their wake.

I trembled and almost pulled away, tore off my dress, and demanded he fuck me right there.

Someone cleared their throat on the side of us.

Lei stopped and turned that way.

Chen spoke, “We should go in order to not keep anyone waiting—”

“We?” Lei shook his head. “You think you're coming?”

Chen blinked. “Of course I'm coming. There could be—”

“You're staying here.” Lei guided me towards the awaiting helicopter. “You interrupt too damn much.”

“My job is to make sure that you always maintain your schedule—”

“I'm on a fucking date.” Lei scowled at him. “If you get on that helicopter, be ready to get something broken.”

Chen frowned. “Fine, but don't blame me if you miss something important.”

Lei ignored him, his attention focused entirely on me as he led me towards the helicopter.

The sun cast a warm glow over us.

Lei kept his voice low. “You look amazing. In fact, you are stunning.”

I blushed. “Thank you. You're not looking too bad yourself.”

We climbed into the helicopter and settled into the plush seats.

The engine roared to life, and the rotor blades began to spin.

Lei fastened his seatbelt and then helped me with mine. The whole time, his gaze traced the outline of my body.

My heart raced.

The air crackled around us.

I watched him. “Where are we going?”

“You'll see.”

We lifted off the ground, Lei reached out, took my hand once again, and intertwined our fingers. “I'm sorry for leaving you alone like that.”

I swallowed.

“It was thoughtless and. . .disrespectful.” His voice vibrated with sincerity. “I realize now that. . .my actions might have made you feel. . .abandoned.”

I bit my bottom lip.

“And. . .maybe you thought that I didn't care about you.”

“A little.”

“I care about you, Monique. I really do.”

I swallowed.

“That was never my intention, and that won't happen again.”

“It can't.”

“I really care about you. . .more than. . .I've been able to express.” He ran his fingers through his long hair. “I'll do better.”

“Thank you.”

“You forgive me?”

“Of course.”

“Good.” But then he scowled, “However. . .”

I raised my eyebrows.

“Your being a Friend. . .it may cause more problems among the Syndicate.”

“Why?”

“I didn't want Banks's men around you. Why would you think that I would be professional with others?”

I rolled my eyes. “Lei, stop being crazy and possessive.”

“Let's hope that all these men in these supposed negotiations know their place.” He gestured to the window. “But that's the future, for now. . .let's just enjoy today's journey.”

I turned and gazed out the window, the scenery transformed into a stunning vista of majestic mountains and deep valleys, illuminated by the sun. The peaks of the mountains stood tall, while their sharp edges pointed towards the sky, cloaked in mist.

Below, the valleys stretched out like peaceful meadows, adorned with colorful wildflowers swaying in the breeze.

Lei disrupted my checking out the view. “Hmmm.”

I turned to him. “What?”

“I think I've waited long enough.”

“What do you mean?”
