But Saint’s hands remained loose and at his sides.

That didn’t mean Rez would drop his guard. No Demon was trustworthy.

Rez lifted his chin slightly and met the man’s narrowed eyes.

“Gave my prez your card. He’s interested in you doin’ some work at our place in Uniontown.”

Get the fuck out!

He played dumb. “What kind of place?”

“Our MC’s clubhouse. The work we need was close to bein’ done but the lazy motherfuckers didn’t finish before they bailed.”

“Damn.” Rez tugged at his bearded chin. “What d’ya need done and how soon?”

“Construction.”

Jesus fuck. “Yeah, get that since I do construction.”

“Givin’ you a week to get the rest of it done.”

“Haven’t even seen the job yet.” Not that he was going to turn down an opportunity to get into their Uniontown clubhouse.

“Want the fuckin’ job or not?”

“Yeah. I want it.”

“Said you got a buddy to help. Gonna need him.”

“Not a problem. We both could use the scratch.” Rez lowered his voice. “Or we could barter, like I said the other day.”

“Once you get there you can work out how you get fuckin’ paid with Wolf. That ain’t my business.”

Rez played his part by furrowing his brow. “Who’s Wolf? Your president?”

“Runs the Wolf Den.”

“What’s the Wolf Den?”

“Our goddamn clubhouse in Uniontown. Askin’ way too many fuckin’ questions.”

Rez needed to be cautious since the biker was losing his patience. “It’s not like you guys have a fucking brochure.” Or a website. “When can I talk to this Wolf?”

“You gonna be here the rest of the night?”

“Was planning on an hour or two. Then I’m heading out to enjoy that cotton candy.”

“Will find you after I talk to Wolf.”

“Why don’t you give me his number?”

“He’s got your card. I can’t find you later, gonna have him get a holda you directly.”

Rez smiled big. “I could really use the extra work.”

“Don’t give a fuck.”

Rez pressed on acting excited about the opportunity and as if Saint wasn’t a complete motherfucking asshole. “I appreciate you passing my card onto him. You won’t regret it.”

“Better not.” Saint shook his head and walked away.

Rez’s grin had to be blinding.

His Venezuelan ass just got an in at the Wolf Den. He couldn’t wait to tell Crew. The task force leader was going to bust a nut into his Depends.

While Cookie, the assistant manager, was around more now that Saint the Taint was officially the club manager, most of the time the club was running on its own. The prospects and the dancers were supposed to get a hold of Taint if there was an issue.

Of course, there was always an issue and none of them got resolved.

But Taint’s ol’ lady wasn’t around more because she suddenly found her work ethic. It was because Saint had been railing some of the new girls.

Actually, almost all of them.

Usually in his office. Sometimes in the girls’ dressing room and right in front of everyone else.

Sapphire never knew what she’d be walking into when she went in the dressing room or if she was forced to search out Taint in his office. Something she tried to avoid like the freaking plague.

However, she had a feeling he made them fuck him, whether they wanted to or not, by threatening to fire them. And most of the women who danced at The Pit didn’t have a decent resume to find a better job.

Sapphire didn’t hold that against them, since she didn’t, either. She’d been working at gentlemen’s clubs ever since she turned nineteen. So, she understood how they had gotten stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Taint being the hard place.

Only she, Cherish and Porsche didn’t fall for Taint’s bullshit. Any time he threatened their jobs, they simply shrugged, or flipped him off and walked away. They were the best dancers the asshole had now that he physically dragged Mel out and fired her. He couldn’t afford to lose them and he was aware that if it wasn’t for them, they might not have any customers at all.

And all three of them wanted to walk away. Porsche and Cherish constantly asked her when Mel would open up her own club, since Sapphire and Mel were best friends.

Those two ladies were also why Sapphire hadn’t left yet, even though she’d have no problem getting a gig at another club. She had stepped into Mel’s role of being their protector and helping the new girls with their routines. If they were interested. Many were not. They believed the only skill needed to make money on the stage was to get naked.

That couldn’t be farther from the truth, but she was done trying to convince them. She had enough bruises on her forehead from banging her head against the wall. However, she left the offer open-ended. If they approached her on their own, she’d be glad to help.

Luckily, Mel was currently looking at potential real estate to purchase to convert into a club. She figured it might be cheaper to start from scratch and design it like she envisioned instead of buying another club and refurbishing it.
