“And you know why I didn’t like you working at The Peach Pit. It was you working for that outlaw MC, not the fact you were getting naked in front of lots of strangers.” His mouth twisted.

She pinned her lips together. “So, you’ll be fine with it if I strip somewhere else?”

“Uh huh.”

“Uh huh,” she echoed. “I guess that will be put to the test if I follow that lead you have.”

“I’ll be fine with it since I know it’ll be temporary.”

“You know I love dancing.” That was true. She would always dance, even if just for herself. It cleared her mind, kept her in shape and made her feel like she could take on the world.

Or an asshole biker.

“There are other types of dancing you can do with your clothes on.”

“There are? But dancing naked is so freeing.” She smothered her grin when he scowled.

“Can you go get your bag packed so we can get the fuck out of here? Please. Before I say something that’ll have you checking into a motel tonight.”

She laughed. “How about if I go pack while you work on securing my door so someone doesn’t help themselves to all of my stuff so I have nothing left to move.”

“You’re willing to move?”

“Well, I don’t have a job right now, so I’m not sure where I’ll move, but yes, if I can find the right place for the right price.”

“I have a place that fits your requirements.”

“You do?”

“Yes. Go get your shit and I’ll give you a tour.”

Hmm. “I think I’ve seen it already.”

Was she really considering moving in with Rez? Maybe temporarily until she got back on her feet… But permanently? They’d been only “seeing” each other for about a month. It was too soon, wasn’t it?

“The place comes with perks.”

“Oh? Like?”

He grinned and jerked a thumb toward his chest. “Me.”

“And that’s supposed to convince me?”

“I’ll throw in authentic Venezuelan meals from my mother.”

“Well, then. Now you’ve convinced me.”

He winced. “Ouch.” He pulled her into him again, dropping his head and grinning against her lips. “You can stay as long as you like. And if you never leave, I won’t complain.”

“While I appreciate the offer,” she started, “how about we simply take it day by day and see how it goes?”

“I can live with that.”

“Good. Because that’s your only choice.”

His eyebrows rose. “Huh. Someone once told me that you need more than one option for it to be a choice.”

“That person is so smart!” she exclaimed.

He chuckled. “That she is. Smart enough that she’ll quickly figure out she can’t go wrong with living with me.”

“Mmm hmm.”

He took her mouth and they kissed until they were both breathless, her breasts ached for his touch and his erection pressed against her lower belly.

When they finally pulled apart, she breathed, “Well, maybe that first perk won’t be so bad.”

“I’ve got a lot more perks to show you, including the one in my pants. So, hurry up and go grab your shit.” With a sexy, crooked smile, he slapped her ass.

As she went to head into her bedroom, she paused and turned back. “Hey.”

“Yeah?”

“Thanks for being here for me.”

“Always, Sapphire. Always.”

She turned away before the sting in her eyes turned to real tears. Wearing a smile, she went to “go grab her shit.”

This day had started with Sadie’s funeral, then turned into a shit show, but maybe, just maybe, it would end much better than it started.

Chapter Thirty

Even though the hot tub was made for four people, when two of the occupants were men with some bulk to them, it made a snug fit.

Mel was sitting sideways in Finn’s lap while Sapphire sat in Rez’s as the jets churned out hot water and caused a steamy haze to surround them in the cold late-March air.

With one arm curled around Sapphire’s waist, Rez’s other hand was busy with a beer.

Now that they’d been living together for about two months, they were taking part in official “couple” activities. Like hanging out with her bestie and her best friend’s hot as fuck man.

The heated water soothed her aching feet since she just came off a five-night stretch of dancing on stage at Heaven’s Angels Gentlemen’s Club. A strip joint ironically owned by another MC, the Dirty Angels.

But unlike Saint’s management style—or lack of one—Moose, the manager at Heaven’s Angels, knew what the hell he was doing. He also did what was best for the club and the dancers. For the most part, he treated them with respect and even valued their opinions.

It was almost as good as working for Mel.

Almost, but not quite.

With Moose, his motivation was spurred from the fact that the more money the club made, the more he made. Because of that, the club was well-maintained, the dancers professional and friendly, but…

For her, it was only temporary. Plus, the longer distance to drive to and from work sucked. The commute took more time out of her day, which in turn gave her less time to spend with the man whose erection was currently pressing into her ass.
