Thank fuck everyone wore their road name on their chest.

He’d concentrate on identifying the most important members first, like Wolf, then work on remembering the prospects’ names. He’d also make sure Crew had a file started on every one of the Uniontown Demons, including the prospects, ol’ ladies and sweet butts. Anyone tied to the club who could have a hand in the meth trafficking and sales.

But as he was introduced around, one thing caught Decker’s attention. No ol’ ladies or sweet butts were present.

While there hadn’t been any last night either, that most likely had to do with it being a club meeting. With most MCs, women weren’t seen as equals so they couldn’t attend any meeting about club business. While archaic and degrading, the women chose to put up with that kind of treatment. And unless any of them were being outright abused or held against their will, Decker would not step in. The Demons would never accept that kind of response from a prospect and it could possibly blow his cover.

Even so, he hated to see any women being treated as a lesser. He would lose his fucking mind if Val grew up and accepted that kind of bullshit. That possibility only made him more determined than ever to make sure she was raised knowing her self-worth.

Somewhere along the way, Val’s mother had fallen into the trap of believing she wasn’t worthy of respect or love. Decker had no idea how or why Amelia came to that conclusion since, despite their father bouncing early on, they were raised by a loving and respectful mother. But however it happened, it partially contributed to her traveling down the road of getting high, and remaining that way, to deal with life.

His best guess was she’d been dealing with some sort of chemical imbalance or mental health disorder. Of course, he wasn’t a doctor and, no matter how much he tried, he couldn’t convince her to see one to be officially diagnosed.

One painful lesson he learned along that rocky path was that he couldn’t force anyone to accept help if they didn’t want it. Sometimes the only choice left was to sit back and hope they’d wake up before it was too late.

He’d seen it time and time again, not just in his personal life while dealing with Amelia, but also in his career as a cop.

Needing to remain aware of his current surroundings, he shook himself back to the present, making him once again wonder why not one sweet butt or ol’ lady was at the Uniontown chapter tonight. But then, this could be a typical night in Demonland.

He also didn’t see Saint, the Demon in charge of The Peach Pit. Or any of the prospects he knew worked at the strip club where Finn had gone undercover.

Once Stitch was done making the rounds introducing “Hatchet” to his fellow Demons, he tipped his head toward the back of the building. “Let’s go.”

As he followed the biker to another door, Decker asked about the women considered as both club property and under their protection, but without the same status as an ol’ lady. “Got no sweet butts?”

Sweet butts, for the most part, were at the members’ beck and call, no matter what it was. Usually for sex. Sometimes as maids and cooks. It wasn’t a paid position but one they did willingly without any benefit other than the ability to hang out with the members of an MC.

He didn’t get the appeal but then, it wasn’t for him to “get.” As long as they volunteered to be treated like that and weren’t forced, then it wasn’t his business.

“Got a couple, but pay them no mind. Any bitches hangin’ around that ain’t ol’ ladies or sweet butts, have at ‘em, if they’ll have you.” Stitch glanced over his shoulder and ran his gaze over Decker from head to toe. “They might be all over you since you’re fresh meat.”

His other pluses included: taking a daily shower, wearing deodorant, going regularly to the dentist and knowing how to work a washing machine.

He might be a real fucking catch. “Get a lotta female hang-arounds here?”

Stitch sucked on his teeth. “Not yet. Again, chapter’s new. Got a few that pop up here and there, though. But those come for a reason.”

Decker’s ears perked. “What reason’s that?” He already knew the answer but wanted confirmation.

Stitch opened the door leading to a short hallway. “To get a fix.”

“They show up to get high?”

“Long as they’re willin’ to do shit.”

Of course. Nothing in life was free. “Shit like what?”

“Whatever we want ‘em to do. Like the sweet butts, but they ain’t gotta be loyal to the members. They come and go when they want. They just gotta keep their fuckin’ mouth open for dick and shut about the club.”
