He takes off his blood-smeared shirt and throws it in the corner of the cell.

“Why did you come back?” It’s out before I realize it.

He glances at me over his broad shoulders. “I don’t have a choice.”

I frown. “You could fight your way out, right?”

His eyes narrow. “Don’t you think I’ve tried?”

He turns to face me, and my eyes glide down his chiseled pecs and abs, unable to stop myself. And for some reason, I can picture myself sliding a finger down those very same abs.

Stop.

I shake it off, forcing myself to focus on something else, anything, but it’s almost impossible because he takes up so much space in this tiny cell.

I force myself to fixate my attention on the conversation instead of his perfectly carved body. “So Lex keeps you in here and forces you to kill people.”

He doesn’t respond.

“Is it because of that collar?”

His eyes sharpen almost like a hawk homing in on its prey, and it makes me inch back into the wall.

I almost feel like I should apologize for even asking, but I’m not the bad guy here.

Although, it’s almost starting to look like he isn’t either.

Which doesn’t make any sense. He has blood on his hands. Literally.

“Whose blood is that?” I ask, pointing at his arms.

His eyes lower as his hands rise, and he takes a long hard look at them as though he hadn’t even seen it himself.

But the thought didn’t evade me that perhaps they already found my father.

And I’m kept here for the fun of it.

Tears well up in my eyes. “Is it my papa’s?”

“No,” the man responds, making a fist with his bloodied hands. “I killed his friend.”

Another friend … another life lost because of Lex’s desire to settle a debt my papa owes.

Horrific. All of it.

“Why?” I mutter. “What did he do to deserve a death like that?”

“To find your father,” Beast replies, never evading my eyes.

“And did you?” I ask.

He shakes his head, and my heartbeat finally slows down a little.

“But I will,” he adds, his voice chilling.

He steps closer, and for a second, I wonder if he’s going to hurt me too. Instead, he pushes a button on the wall right next to me. A shower is turned on mere inches away from me.

I crawl away so I don’t get wet, but when I’ve perched myself in a corner and turn to look, he’s already taken off his black cargo pants … and all his other clothes.

My eyes almost drop out of my head at the sight of his sculpted round ass as he steps underneath the shower like it’s no big deal. And I can’t look away, no matter how hard I try to peel my eyes off him. Every muscle in his body tenses as the blood washes off his hands and disappears down the drain. He grabs a bar of soap lying on a small shelf next to the shower button. With every turn, I catch another glimpse of his abs and thick thighs as he washes them thoroughly. And I still can’t manage to look away.

Not until our eyes connect.

And I realize he just caught me staring.

I shut my eyes and wish the blush away, not brave enough to open my eyes again and face the consequences of my actions.

But I don’t need to look to know what’s happening.

I can hear him turn off the shower. Dry himself off with one of the towels on a rack near the bars. Step closer and closer and closer.

Is he still naked?

I swallow at the thought of seeing his body … and the giant cock dangling between his legs. I’ve never seen a man before. At least not in real life. I’ve only seen one on the internet when I was curious.

But I don’t think I can avoid it much longer as I can literally hear him breathe.

When I open my eyes, he’s right there, hunched in front of me, hands on his knees, the only thing between me and his naked body is the flimsy towel he dried off with.

And it’s not long enough to cover the dick dangling between his legs.

Or the tip that’s still dripping wet.

Good God.

I swallow away the lump in my throat and quickly look away.

His nostrils flare as he sucks in a breath. “I can smell you.”

What the … ?

My cheeks glow even brighter.

Do I stink?

I slowly lean in to my armpits, curious to know what he’s talking about, but the scent isn’t that bad. Granted, I haven’t showered in days. Not that I ever could with the way he’s been watching me like a hawk.

But I don’t smell what he’s smelling.

“Not there,” he says, his voice guttural, almost feral like.

He leans in so close he invades my space, and with closed eyes, he takes another whiff, groaning loudly.

And for some reason, it makes my entire body erupt into goose bumps.
