“Me?” Her brow furrowed. “Absolutely nothing. He hasn’t even come up to the house, and Reed says he practically growls at him every time he goes down to the hangar. I don’t think they have the best relationship…” Two lines appeared between her eyebrows. “Or any relationship, really. From what I know about Weston, he’s a stubborn…well, asshole.”

“He’s not an asshole,” I said quietly, but put some oomph behind the words so she’d know I meant it. “He’s just really—”

As if on cue, I heard his door open, and our gazes all swung that direction as he walked downstairs, clothed in pajama pants that rode low on his hips and a black T-shirt that stretched across his broad chest. Did he always have to look so deliciously edible? Selfishly, I was glad he’d thrown on a shirt. He wasn’t exactly my eye candy, but I wasn’t about to willingly share the droolworthy sight of him shirtless, either.

Down girl, he’s not yours.

Wait. Did I want him to be? No. That was ridiculous. Just because I was wildly attracted to the man didn’t mean I wanted to date him.

“Ladies,” he said, his voice dipping deep as he passed by the living room. He looked my way, and I gripped my slushie glass a little tighter. “Need anything from the kitchen?”

“No thank you,” I answered for all of us and noted that Halley’s brows had risen to the ceiling as she turned toward me.

Oh my god, she mouthed, fanning herself.

I sent her a look that told her to stop, but her mouth was still open when she looked back at Weston as he dug through the fridge.

He grabbed a sports drink and Halley popped her mouth closed as he shut the door and walked back through the living room on his way upstairs. “You guys okay to drive?” He glanced between Raven, Ava, and Halley. “I don’t mind driving you home.”

“I’m okay,” Raven assured him.

“At least you already know where I live,” Ava noted, lifting her glass in salute.

“True. And dropping you in the driveway wouldn’t break my vow to never go inside, so my offer still stands.” His jaw flexed once, and our gazes collided.

There it was again, that swirling pit in my stomach that threatened to swallow all the air in the room if I paid too much attention to it…to him.

“Reed will come grab me if I have another one,” Ava promised. “And he’ll take Halley.”

“Or I could just stay here,” Halley muttered, eyeing Weston over her glass.

“We’re good,” I promised him.

“Okay. Have a good night.” One last, stomach-tightening look and he walked back upstairs, shutting the door after him.

“See? He’s not an asshole. He offered to drive you home,” I immediately said, swinging my finger at them all.

“He’s…” Ava shook her head, as if she couldn’t find the words.

“Hot,” Halley supplied.

Raven laughed and sipped her slushie.

“He’s just a little intense.” I ignored Halley’s astute assessment and took a quick drink in hopes the wine would settle my stomach. Living with the guy was one thing, but getting a schoolgirl crush on him was something entirely different. He had emotionally unavailable practically tattooed across his forehead.

“And hot,” Halley nodded with each word.

“Intense is a good description,” Ava agreed.

“Did you both miss the part where he’s drop-dead gorgeous?” Halley asked, her gaze swinging between all of us.

“I’m staying out of this.” Raven waved her off.

My cheeks burned, and it wasn’t the alcohol. I knew exactly how attractive he was.

Ava wavered. “I mean, he’s not Reed.”

“No one is Reed to you.” Raven tossed a pillow at Ava, smacking into my laptop and closing the device.

“He’s hotter,” I said with a calm sip of my slushie.

“That is what I’m talking about!” Halley laughed. “What is with the genes on these Madigan boys?”

“They do seem to be at an advantage,” Ava admitted, grinning as she took a drink.

“And you live with that?” Halley leaned on her armrest. “Tell me, have you applied the try-everything-once philosophy to that tree of a man? Because if not, you should abandon the motto altogether.”

They all stared at me.

“You can’t be serious.” I leaned forward and set my slushie on the coffee table.

“Dead serious,” Halley said.

I scoffed, then turned to Raven, who was casually stirring a spoon through her slushie. “And your thoughts? You grew up here, so you know him, right?”

“Yeah, but he was four years ahead of me in school, so it’s not like I knew him, knew him. Mostly, I knew his mom.” She glanced between Ava and Halley before tilting her head. “He’s…Weston. He’s a good guy, but it might get awkward because you both work at the same resort if something went wrong.”

“The resort we all work at,” Ava reminded her.

“How about the fact that we live together if it went wrong?” I shook my head. “Yeah, no thanks. I’ll be keeping my hands to myself.” Which was a damn shame, because I couldn’t remember the last time I’d actually wanted something for myself that wasn’t directly tied to what was best for Sutton. And that feeling in my stomach? It was definitely want.
